INSTRUCTIONS FOR BIDDERS
(Creosote Treated Bridge Lumber)
It is the intent of these specifications to describe for purchase creosote treated bridge timber. Timbers are to meet the specifications as set by Section 911 of the Tennessee Department of Transportation Standard specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, attached. Owner agrees to place orders in truckload quantities whenever possible. All bids are F.O.B. Tipton County
Bids shall be submitted at the time and place indicated in the Invitation to Bid and shall be enclosed in an opaque sealed envelope clearly marked, “TREATED TIMBER BID ENCLOSED” so as to prevent opening by mistake.
Bids will be opened publicly and read aloud at the time and place specified in the Invitation To Bid. An abstract of the amounts of the base bids and major alternates (if any) will be made available after the opening of bids.
All bids shall remain open for sixty days after the date of the bid opening, but owner may, in his sole discretion, release any bid and return the bid security (if applicable) prior to that date.
Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive any and all irregularities and to negotiate contract terms with the successful bidder, and right to disregard all nonconforming, unresponsive or conditional bids. Discrepancies between words and figures will be resolved in favor of words. Discrepancies between the indicated sum of any column of figures and the correct sum thereof will be resolved in favor of the correct sum.
If the contract is to be awarded, owner will give the successful bidder Notice of Award, in writing, within sixty days after the day of the bid opening.
This contract will be for a period of one year, beginning July 1, 2012 and ending June 30, 2013. Bid prices will be for the entire contract period.

Tipton County Public Works reserves the right to waive all technical errors in the bids and to accept or reject any or all bids.
