Site Coordinator Responsibilities and Instructions

1. Set up by 8:30 with your supplies, name tag &vest on. Table & chair are useful.

2. Release form: Collect waivers. Distribute waivers to volunteers who come without one.

Some jurisdictions may require a waiver in addition to the Creek Week waiver.

Volunteers please print their address legibly including city and zip. Adult/child head count.

3. Make sure your workers can recognize and avoid poison oak. The leaves are larger than usual for this time of year. They are light green and shiny. Tick & mosquito season.

4. Urge safety among your workers. Containers of toxic material, rusty metal, broken glass, poison oak, traffic, steep banks and deep water can be hazards. Needles should be carefully placed in a sharps container by an adult- or in the unincorporated County report to

875-5000. Volunteers should get help to remove heavy items, wear gloves to protect from splinters and sharp items, and not do anything they don’t feel comfortable doing.

DON’T TAKE RISKS! Wash hands well after working in creek water.Hand washingstations at the port-a-potties and hand sanitizerat the welcome tables at the Celebration.

5. Remind adults that their main job is to supervise and keep the childrenwith them safe.

6. Distribute supplies: garbage bags, buttons, data cards, T-shirt tickets, mosquito repellant, etc.

7. Review the day’s schedule and activities: Explain Junk & Gunk contest and data hunt.

Completed Data Hunt cards should be turned in at the Celebration Welcome table. Exhibits open from 11:00 – 2:00. T-shirts will not be distributed before 11:30. No exceptions. Lunch will be served at noon. Entertainment and prizes until the event ends at 2:00.

8. Encourage forming groups of about 5 for the data hunt.

9. Junk & Gunk sculpture & individual items must be entered no later than 12:30. Contest winners are announced at 1:00.

10. Encourage separating recyclables such as cans, glass and plastic bottles into separate bags and take home to recycling barrels.

Recycling Tires. Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps will pick up all tires. Please keep tires separated from garbage pile and report the location to Mathew Stallworth,

Supervise, encourage sharing garbage bags, have fun, administer first aid, answer questions, problem solve,take pictures – OK to pose. Last photos – garbage piles & proud workers!

Make sure garbage bags and piles are left at designated collection points only.

- Start wrapping things up by 11:30 so that you can get to the Celebration by noon.

Carmichael Park, 5750 Grant Avenue.Park anywhere in the park or in the neighborhood. Remind volunteers that they can drop off passengers & equipment before parking. Because the park can be very busy, parking may be some distance from the Celebration site.

- Make sure everyone knows how to get to Carmichael Park. Maps are in your box.

11. Drop off your box with signed release forms, completed Site Leader Report Form, remaining supplies, at the Celebrationbefore 2:00 on Saturday.Drop off area is near the Junk & Gunk.

Sign-in sheets/liability waivers, clip board* Data hunt/Junk & Gunk contest cards, pencils * Sharps container * Mosquito repellant * Vest * Poison oak photo where needed

Trash bags (Clear or lightweight bags for recycles, litter bags for small children)

(If you need them grab sunscreen, first aid kit, hand sanitizer, extra bags or rope and hook.)
