FIRST HOLY COMMUNIONS 2009: If your child is in year 3 or above at school and is ready to join the preparation class for First Holy Communion, please ask for an application form from the sacristy after Mass. The initial meeting for parents will be held on Saturday 21st February at 10.00am in Wheeler Hall. The First Holy Communion Mass will be celebrated on Sunday 14th June at the 11.00am Mass.
IF YOU ARE an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion in a parish other than the Cathedral, and would be willing to exercise your ministry at a weekday Mass here (especially the 12.30pm Mass), please contact one of the priests.

LEEDS DIOCESAN YOUTH SERVICE - has opportunities for young people to go to LOURDES. If you are not already booked on the Leeds Diocesan Pilgrimage you can do this in one of three ways: 1) Those over 18yrs of age can go as a helper in the hospital. 2) You can book on as an ordinary pilgrim - no work and no responsibility other than praying hard, etc! THE DVD ON PASTORAL REORGANISATION, which gives the history of the Catholic Church in Leeds and an overview of current provision, in Wheeler Hall, will be shown on Sunday 8th February, after the 11.00am Mass. A 30 WEEK PILGRIMAGE OF PRAYER WITH ST PAUL: The prayer pilgrimage takes this form.
Step 1: Please observe silence for at least two minutes asking the Holy Spirit to meet you where you are at this moment.
Step 2: Pray the prayer: Most Holy Spirit, come into every part of my being and make it a temple for Jesus Christ, to the glory of the Father. Pray for me, Saint Paul to be a worthy instrument of the Gospel. Amen.
Step 3: Read God's word from Saint Paul or the Acts of the Apostles. Galatians 5: 13-14 on “Freedom.” You may repeat quietly what you have read once or twice.
Step 4: Meditate on the word, words or phrases and sentences that touched you.
Step 5: Ask the Holy Spirit to help you put into action what He wants of you today.
Step 6: If you have a prayer journal, write some your reflection and action in it at the close of the day.

LIGHTING A CANDLE is a symbol of our prayer and a way of extending it when we can no longer be there. But, please place lighted candles only in the sockets provided. If there isn’t room, leave your unlit votive candle on the tray beneath the lighted candles. It will be lit for you when there is room.
LEEDS OASIS meets at Leeds Universities Catholic Chaplaincy on Saturday 31st January at 1.00pm. A time for prayer, praise, adoration, teaching and fellowship for young adults.
HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY will be commemorated in Leeds next Sunday, 1st February in the Town Hall. It begins at 2.00pm followed by refreshments at 3.15pm & a short Oratorio at 3.30pm. All are welcome; no tickets needed.

1. School of Prayer A day to reflect on the meaning of prayer, to experience different ways of praying and to explore methods of leading others in prayer. The day will include reflection, input and a variety of workshops. Workshops led by Fr John Wilson, Linda Pennington, Ann Hemsworth, Carol Daley, & Josephine Stow
9.30 am - 3.15 pm. Leeds Trinity and All Saints in the Chapel. On Friday 27th February the session will be aimed at school staff; particularly those who lead others in prayer On Saturday 28th February the session will be aimed at catechists, liturgists and anyone involved in parish ministry.
2. Unlocking the Catechism
This day offers school staff the opportunity to discover how the Catechism can be a useful tool in the classroom for effectively passing on faith. Thursday 26th March 2009. 9.30 am - 3 pm. Hinsley Hall.
3. St Paul and Catechesis
A day of study on St Paul. In the morning session we will explore the parts of the New Testament written by St Paul and the context in which he was writing. After lunch we will consider what St Paul wrote about Christ’s resurrection and our hope for the future. This day will be of benefit to clergy, catechists, teachers and anyone interested in learning about St Paul. Bring your Bible along and expect to learn something new! Led by Sr. Patsy McDonald SHCJ, Director of Teaching and Learning at Ushaw College in Durham.
