General Objectives

The purpose of this component is to train participants in the enhancement of previously developed web pages and websites using advanced features of web development software. An emphasis will be placed upon legal issues associated with publishing web pages and content appropriate for school/department sites. Upon successful completion of this component, participants will be able to use advanced features of web development software to enhance a website.

Specific Objectives

Upon completion of this component, participants will be able to:

1. Utilize web management software for advanced management of web files.

2. Enhance web documents using web development software advanced features.

3. Import text into web pages from other word processing documents.

4. Import graphics from imaging devices for use in web pages.

5. Import a variety of documents into an existing website.

6. Create templates to improve web site consistency.

7. Create complex tables and calendars.

8. Use available software features to control layout on web pages.

9. Use webbot to simplify programming/scripting tasks.

10. Create, manipulate, and enhance images for web publication using graphics software.

9. Create or use development software features for navigation.

10. Use available software features to facilitate website navigation.

11. Build dynamic web pages using interactive forms.

12. Build dynamic web pages using database connectivity.

13. Create and manage subsites.

14. Administer a school/department-based web site using web management software.

15. Understand critical issues and district guidelines with respect to advanced website development.

Description of Activities

Instructional delivery will consist of lecture, discussion, and demonstration. Participants will complete hands-on activities designed to meet the objectives of this component. Appropriate instructional materials will be available for the participants to use as resources and study guides. Qualified consultant(s) will develop the course outline based on the specific objectives stated above. This component is designed to increase a participant’s knowledge base and skills for developing and enhancing Web pages and Web sites.

Evaluation of Participants

Evaluation of the specific objectives will be determined by the activity leader or designee through analysis of student performance data affected by training activities, portfolios maintained by the training participant, documented observation by administrators, rubrics developed for special area curriculum, teacher-provided test results/grade books, or curriculum alignment data. Participants must demonstrate increased competencies in 80% or more of the specific objectives in order to earn inservice credits.

Evaluation of Activity

An online evaluation for this activity will be conducted through the Santa Rosa Professional Growth System.
