Creating an iDVD Project

The following are the steps in using iDVD to create an iDVD project and burn a DVD disc for both TV and computer use. The maximum file size is 4.7 GB.

1. Create an iDVD project

In iMovie select Share –>iDVD under the menu bar and click the button “Share.”

2. Customize your iDVD project

iDVD will start automatically with your iMovie file transferred. Select a theme to customize your DVD. Then you can add images and background music to the various Drop Zones.

Double click on the titles in the main window to change font size and color to customize the text.

In the menu on the right, click on the triangle next to the theme you like, to see different panels for the Main, Chapters and Extras menus.

Each panel has different customizable drop zones. You can also edit the sound. Click the Edit Drop Zones button and you will see all the drop zones, as well as the Media Menu on the right. Just drag and drop media into the viewing area.

During the process of customization you can always click the run button to preview the results.

3. Preview your iDVD project

After you finish the customization click the preview button to view your project to make sure that all the media plays as you expect it to. Click the Map button and look at the icons to see if any warning symbols appear. If they do, move the pointer over the symbol to read the error message and fix them before you burn it to disc. Click Return to exit the Map view.

4. Give a disc name

After finishing the customization select Project -> Project Info under the menu bar and give a disc name.

6. Burn your DVD disc

Select File -> Burn DVD under the menu bar. When you see the following dialog box appears on screen insert a blank DVD disc and start burning it.
