Creating an Account on Turnitin.com (NB: If you already have an account, use that!)
- Go to turnitin.com
- Click on “create an account” in the top right hand corner of the page.
- Underneath the heading “Create a New Account,” click “student”
- Enter the appropriate information:
- Class ID =12687249
- Enrollment Password = Hill3!
- Someplace secure, write down your password EXACTLY as you typed it & the response to the secret question. I will not have access to this information; you will need to reset your password should you forget.
Uploading/submitting a paper assignment to Turnitin
- Log in to your account.
- Click on the paper assignment
- Click on “Submit”
- Once on the submit page, make sure the option next to submit is for “Single File Upload”. If the option is set to “Cut & Paste Upload”, click on the phrase and choose the “single file upload” option. In the past, students have had formatting issues with the “Cut and Paste” option. Should you choose to cut and paste, make sure everything looks correct before the final submission.
- One in the “Single File Upload” setting, “choose the file you want to upload to Turnitin”:
- If your paper is saved to the computer from which you are submitting, click on “choose from this computer” and search the drives for your paper
- If your paper is a Google document, click on “choose from Google Drive”, log in, and click on your paper.
NOTE: File types allowed: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, PostScript, PDF, HTML, RTF, OpenOffice (ODT), Hangul (HWP), Google Docs, and plain text
- Once you have located your paper, click on the paper title then click choose OR double click on the paper title. The paper will appear on Turnitin.
- Click “Upload”
- A confirmation page will appear; this lets you confirm that it is the paper you want to submit.
- Click “Confirm” and your paper will be submitted. You will receive a digital receipt to let you know that the submission was successful.It is your responsibility to check for successful submission.
- If you return to the class homepage, you will now see:
- “Resubmit” – this means the program has record of your original submission. You can resubmit your paper with any changes until the final due date time.
- “View” – lets you see the originality report, grade marks and feedback, and peer marks (should a peer edit occur on Turnitin)
