Creating a Movie in Corel Video Studio

  1. Open a new Corel Video Project
  2. Click on the Edit Tab at the Top of the Window
  3. Click to Browse Button
  1. Add an Intro Effect with a Caption like Mr. Geerdes’ Family (Make it 5 Seconds long by Double Clicking the Effect and setting the time to 5 seconds.
  2. Add a Caption on the Intro Slide
  3. Click on the Select Text Type from the Edit Tab
  4. Choose a Text Type and Drag and Drop to the Text Track
  5. Set the Text length to match the Intro Effect length (5 seconds)
  6. Go to your Family Tree folder (Drag and drop the pictures in the correct order for your movie)
  7. Double Click eachPicture
  8. Set Picture length to 7 seconds
  9. Adding Captions to each picture
  10. Click on the Select Text Type from the Edit Tab
  11. Choose a Text Type and Drag and Drop to the Text Trackunder the picture
  12. Set the Text length to match the Intro Effect length (7 seconds)
  13. Repeat for all picture (6-10 pictures)
  14. Remember you must go ABOVE AND BEYOND!
  15. Use the Transition Button to add transitions between picture (1 second)
  16. Use the Pan and Zoom Feature (FX Button) on your pictures by Dragging and Dropping a Pan and Zoom Feature on top of each picture.
  17. You can change the slide duration by going to (Text Tools/Format Tab/Adjust Group)
  18. Adding a Creditto the end by using one of the Intro Effects with a Text Caption in the Text Track
  19. Make the Credit Slide 5 seconds long
  20. Make the Caption length 5 seconds as well
  21. Save the Corel Movie project file in your Family Tree folder!
  22. Name it your First and Last Name
  23. THIS IS NOT A MOVIE FILE YET, BUT JUST A PROJECT FILE. THIS IS THE ONLY FILE THAT YOU CAN USE TO EDIT YOUR MOVIE BEFORE SAVING! IT IS A COREL VIDEO PROJECT FILE! IF YOU SEE ERRORS IN THE MOVIE YOU MUST FIX THEM BY OPENING THE COREL VIDEO PROJECT FILE, FIXING THE ERRORS, AND RESAVING THE PROJECT FILE IN YOUR FAMILY TREE FOLDER.
  24. Rendering the Corel Project file to a video
  25. Go to the Share Tab
  26. Select MPEG-4
  27. Change file name to your first and last name (ex. Todd Geerdes)
  28. Change Data Path to save the rendered video in your Family Tree Folder
  29. Click Start Button

Final PowerPoint Project Consists of the Following:

Click on Slide 1 and under Animations Tab/Advance Slide/Uncheck On Mouse Click/Check Automatically After and Set time to 20 Seconds.
Click on Slide 2 and under Animations Tab/Advance Slide/Uncheck On Mouse Click/Check Automatically After and Set time to 20 Seconds.

  1. Insert Movie into Slide 3 of your final PowerPoint presentation.
  2. Open your final PowerPoint Project, click on Slide 3, click on the Insert Tab/Media Group
  3. Choose Video on my PC then insert your movie from the Family Tree folder.
  4. Click on movie in slide, resize to full size of slide
  5. Save the Final PowerPoint to your family tree folder as your first and last name
  6. Use Screencast-O-Matic to Convert PowerPoint to MP4 format and Save As your first name, last name, and Screencast (ex. Todd Geerdes Screencast) (See Directions on my Website)
  7. Open the MP4 from Direction 3 in Corel Video studio by right clicking on it and Open With Corel Video Studio.
  8. Add Voice Over (At a minimum you must narrate your captions on the Collage, Title on Family Tree, and video picture portion of the Corel Movie)
  9. Click the Record/Caption Option
  10. Make sure the Playhead is starting at the beginning of the movie
  11. Click Voice Over
  12. Turn input volume all the way up
  13. Record your narration for the video-Click Start to Record and Spacebar to stop.
  14. Double Click on Narration (Turn Volume up to 400-500)

  1. Adding music to the movie
  2. Drag and Drop an MP3 file to the Music Track (Can use Free from My Website or the Corel Video Studio music files)
  3. The MP3 file should be saved in your Family Tree Folder
  4. Set the Music Track length to the length of your project movie
  5. Listen to the Corel Movie Project file and adjust the music volume. Maybe as low as 5-10. You will have to listen, so you just have low background music and loud enough narration.
  6. Save the Corel Movie project file in your Family Tree folder!
  7. Name it your First and Last Name Final Family Tree
  8. THIS IS NOT A MOVIE FILE YET, BUT JUST A PROJECT FILE. THIS IS THE ONLY FILE THAT YOU CAN USE TO EDIT YOUR MOVIE BEFORE SAVING! IT IS A COREL VIDEO PROJECT FILE! IF YOU SEE ERRORS IN THE MOVIE YOU MUST FIX THEM BY OPENING THE COREL VIDEO PROJECT FILE, FIXING THE ERRORS, AND RESAVING THE PROJECT FILE IN YOUR FAMILY TREE FOLDER.
  9. Rendering the Corel Project file to a video
  10. Go to the Share Tab
  11. Select MPEG-4
  12. Change file name to your First and Last Name Final Family Tree (ex. Todd Geerdes Final FamilyTree)
  13. Change Data Path to save the rendered video in your Family Tree Folder
  14. Click Start Button

  1. Submit the Final Family Tree Video through Google Classroom (Add from Computer).
