Create an OCE (Open Catalog Extension) Connection File

Create an OCE (Open Catalog Extension) connection filefor Hyperion 9.2 client against Legacy Warehouse

1. Go to Start  Control Panel Administrative Tools

Double click on Administrative Tools icon and Double click on Data Sources (ODBC)

2. Click on System DSN Tab, Click Add and Highlight on MERANT OEM 5.1 32-BIT Sybase Wire Protocol and Click on Finish.

3. Enter information on your ODBC Sybase Wire Protocol Driver Setup, example:

Data Source Name: enter your data source name (i.e. E1_COURSE_ODBC)

Description: enter your ODBC description (i.e. COURSE ODBC)

Network Library Name: Winsock

Network Address: enter an ASU network and port (i.e. enterprise1.asu.edu, 2500)

And click on Test Connection

4. Under Login ID and Password: Enter your ware house User ID and Password and click on OK

Note: If your connection is successful, the windows will prompt as follow

Test Connect: Connection established!

Click on OK and click on OK on ODBC Sybase Wire Protocol Driver Setup

5. Open Hyperion Program

Start  All Programs  Hyperion Systems 9 BI+  Interactive Reporting Studio

On the Menu, click on Tools  Connection  Create…

6. Choose ODBC and Sybase System drop down option and Check on Show advanced options and Prompt for database name and click on Next

7. Under User Name and Password, enter your Data Warehouse User ID in the User Name box and your Data Warehouse password in the password box. Choose an appropriate Host. (i.e. E1_COURSE_ODBC) or Name you have defined on your data sources Name on Section 3 and click on Next

8. Enter the desired database separate by commons in the database box. For example, “course, warehouse” and click on Next (FYI: The most common DB table are Financial, Human_Resource, Students and Warehouse.)

9. Make sure to check on Exclude Hyperion Repository Tables and on Allow Non-joined Queries boxes and click on Next

10. Make sure to check on Allow Change Database at Logon, click on Next

11. Click on Next

12. Click on Finish.

Click on Yes

13. Click on Save to save it in C:\Hyperion\BIPlus\data\Open Catalog Extensions

This is the end of the process that uses to create an OCE connection file.

14. Now when you start up Hyperion to build a new query (when at the welcome box) click the upper Browse button and select E1_COURSE_ODBC or Name you have defined on Section 3. It will usually be in C:\Hyperion\BIPlus\Data\Open Catalog Extensions. Then click on OK.

15. The login box comes up, enter your User ID and Password and click on OK

16. Click on the Tables icons at the bottom left frame and HAPPY QUERYING!

After you browse to the E1_COURSE_ODBC.oce once, it will stay in the oce box and you can just double click on it to bring up the login box.
