Definition
Students are to listen to all school personnel and each other to maintain order and respect in the school environment.
Rationale for having the Expectation
Based on behavior incidents, disobedience, defiance and insubordination incidents are recurring behaviors
Positive Examples: “Looks Like” / Non-examples
EXAMPLE: Wiping down the table after eating / Leaving garbage on the table
Using positive words in conversations / Using profanity or hurtful words while in conversation
Following directions given by an adult / Talking back to the teacher or another staff member
Keeping your hands and feet to yourself / Kicking or hitting your classmates

Teachers will teach the classroom rules and the school-wide expectations and rules. Rules specific to specific locations on campus will be reviewed. Students will role-play situations to show the positive as well as the non-examples of the behaviors.
Our school counselor will go on the morning TV program with Mr. McNabbington(school puppet mascot) and promote positive character traits that lead to being respectful to yourself and others. Students will write letters to Mr. McNabbington with examples of respect of self and others. Letters will be read on the morning TV show and hung in the office.

Make choices that follow the expectations set by our school and the teachers
Rationale for having the Expectation
Largest number of ODR are for unruly disruptive behavior and making poor choices
Positive Examples: “Looks Like” / Non-examples
EXAMPLE: Wiping down the table after eating / Leaving garbage on the table
Being a good role model and leader / Following another student making poor choices
Follow directions the first time they are given / Teacher or staff member having to redirect multiple times
Promoting character education traits / Not being honest, tolerant, respectful, etc.

Teachers will teach the expectations and rules for staying in assigned area. Students will role-play what positive and non-examples of these expectations look like.
Mr. McNabbington(school puppet mascot) will be “found” out of his assigned area and the classes will discuss what he should have done to meet the school-wide expectations.

Students remaining in their assigned seats / Students walking around the classroom without permission
Students sitting in their assigned area(s) / Students getting up and walking around
Students remaining with their class when at a special activity, recess, etc. / Students eloping from their assigned area(s) without permission.
