SummerNewsletter –August 2015

Presidents Message

As I write this newsletter it is hard to believe that the CNE is only days away from opening and this is a sure sign that summer is drawing to a close. Less than 20 days and the schools open for the next school year. It has been a very busy time here in Toronto this summer with hosting the PanAm and Parapan Games. For those of you who are avid sports fans, how about those Toronto Bluejays.

Our Mandarin Luncheon - June 18, 2015

We again enjoyed a nice lunch with a total of 33 people attending. 14 Pineridge members and 18 Simcoe Members, as well as 1 friend. A raffle was held for Tim Horton Gift Cards. We continued to collect money for our Thanksgiving donation to the Daily Bread Food Bank. The current amount of this donation is $100. The final opportunity to contribute to this donation will be at our September luncheon.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the attendees of our luncheon for your continuing support. Our members can continue to support Canada Post and your pensions by patronizing Canada Post through using the Mail and Parcel service.

Friday, June 12, 2015, 09:00: Annual Pineridge Golf Tournament

Once again, George and I attended this golf tournament and other than a little rain, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to attending the Trent-Severn Golf Tournament on September 26, 2015. More information about this tournament can be found in upcoming events.

Saturday July 18, 2015: WINE ME AND DINE ME IN NIAGARA

We had 9 participants for this tour. We enjoyed the winery tours with a total of 10 samplings at the three wineries visited. A delicious lunch was served and a short shopping tour of Niagara on the Lake. A wonderful Greek dinner followed on our way home. If interested pictures of this event are on the Simcoe Heritage page, at heritageclub.ca

Tuesday, August 18th, 2015: Peterborough Lift Lock Luncheon Cruise plus Kawartha Downs Slots Casino

There were 9 participants that attended this tour. Unfortunately the Hydraulic Lock was broken and we were not able to experience the trip through. We instead had a scenic tour of the Trent Severn Waterwaywhile enjoying a chicken lunch. The boat Captain was very informative about history of this area. The boat did travel through Lock 19 which is a smaller original Lock, still manually operated.
