Job Description

Job Title: Source TV Assistant Manager

Responsible To: TV manager and Vice President Activities

Staff support: student media support staff


Source TV is the official Students’ Union TV station, enabling students to create and broadcast shows and video content.


Recruitment targets: minimum 60 by the end of the year.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

·  Help develop Source TV and work closely with the manager and all members within the platform;

·  Help with the delivery of training for all new members and ensure all the members are trained prior to conducting any work ;

·  Ensure all the members adhere to the code of conduct, rules and regulations, equipment and working area for Source Media; Inform the manager and the Vice President for Activities if any of these have been broken;

·  Report any technology or equipment requirements to the manager;

·  Support the development of Source Media;

·  To undertake relevant research/development projects as required;

·  To work flexibly – this will include weekends and evenings.

Content

·  Liaise with the manager and VP Activities and ensure a minimum of 50% of activities and major projects within CUSU such as Freshers, Refreshers’ Varsity, etc. are covered and work is turned around quickly;

·  Encourage and support members to come up with new ideas of content such as documentaries, TV shows and offer them support should they need so to put those ideas into practice;

·  To adhere to rules and regulations and all the processes, equipment and working area concerning Source Media;

·  Under the guidance of the Vice President Activities to expand networks and work in collaboration with other Source Teams on relevant projects.

Communication

·  To let the manager know of any guest speaker, training, trips or socials in which members have expressed an interest to enhance their knowledge and practice within the platform;

·  Liaise constantly with the manager about progress on content and activities within the platform and inform them of any support needed within the platform;

·  Report any issues to the manager as soon as possible;

·  Keep constant communication with members, letting them know of projects and activities that happen within the platform and delegate tasks where appropriate. Delegated tasks should be kept under supervision to ensure completion;

·  To attend a minimum of 50% meetings stated below, always sending apologies at least 24 hours in advance via e-mail to the VP Activities and sending a replacement, if unable to attend;

·  Collect all the videos produced within the platform and send them to manager, the Vice President Activities and the student media staff support for approval, prior to them being published;

·  To ensure that only CUSU approved communication channels are used for communication within Source;

·  To ensure that only CUSU approved platforms are used for Source Media.

Role Meetings:

·  Help the manager organise and when needed lead on regular meetings for all members within the platform and make sure they are all informed of the upcoming projects, activities within the platform and Source media;

·  Regular 1-2-1 meetings with the Vice President Activities, as and when needed.

Always send apologies via e-mail to the Vice President Activities if you cannot make a meeting.

If you miss more than 3 meetings in row without informing at least 24 hours in advance the VP Activities, you will be removed from the role;

Promotion and recruitment

·  Help promote Source TV and the content produced through social media and other channels as directed by the VP Activities;

·  Support in coordinating the recruitment within the platform all throughout the year ;

·  Increase coverage and help increase awareness of opportunities provided by CUSU for students.

Annual Bursary:

Although this is a voluntary role, to recognise the time commitment involved, a cash bursary will be paid if all the duties above are carried out. This bursary will decrease if duties and meetings are not carried out.
