Course syllabus: Math For College Readiness 2016-2017
- REQUIREMENTS OF THE STUDENT
- Students are to show respect for their classmates and teacher at all times.
- You are required to be on time to class with all of your materials. Textbooks should be in class each day unless the teacher specifies otherwise.
- You are expected to complete make-up Test/Quizzes immediately upon return.
- Any talking while the instructor is lecturing and/or speaking willresult in (1) a warning and (2) then your dismissal from the classroom and/or a phone call home to parents.
- Homework may be graded on an unannounced basis.
- There is a ONE DAY grace period on LATE HOMEWORKS with a penalty of a letter grade. If he/she was here the day the assignment was assigned it is due immediately upon return. If you were absent the day it was assigned you have 2 days for each day absent to turn in assignment for full credit. County Policy.
- The only materials allowed on the student’s desk are a notebook, textbook, calculator, and pencil.
- Cell Phones: I do not allow cell phone usage in my class. You must use a scientific calculator, not a calculator on your cell phone. Any cell phone usage will result in 1. request to put away, 2. phone call home, 3. referral. Any cell phone usage during a quiz/test will result in a “0”.
- Talking during test/quizzes will result in a grade of a “0”.
- ATTENDANCE POLICY
CharlotteCounty attendance policy is in effect.
- PLAGARISM AND CHEATING
Cheating includes (but is not limited to) giving OR receiving assistance on a test, quiz, or homework assignment for which such assistance is not permitted
Any one found cheating will be given an F on the assignment.
- GRADING POLICY
Grades are done on a point system and throughout any given 9-week period, there will be roughly 500-700 points. Total Points divided by total possible points times 100 = % grade. Each Classwork and Homework assignment will be 20 points. Usually there will be a quiz or a test administered every week. Each quiz will be worth between 50 points and each test will be worth 100 points.
VI. MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Pencil and eraser
- Scientific calculator (TI-84 plus recommended)
(I have these in the classroom-will need one for college though and SAT/ACT- you may sign one out for these tests)
- 3-Subject Notebook specifically for math
- Paper
- Graph Paper
