The aim of the doctoral seminar is to give doctoral students an opportunity to gain and solidify knowledge in the theory and policy of money and finances, as well as to improve their knowledge of a foreign language.
The tasks of the doctoral seminar: to analyze theoretical aspects and transformational growth of money; to discuss the theoretical foundations and principal directions of monetary policy; to investigate the role of monetary policy in the management of economy; to analyze the essence of credit and its role in the development of the national economy; to discuss the problems of bank development; to investigate the methods of government and self-administration budget developing; to discuss the problems concerning the budget deficit and government debts in the national economy; to analyze the theory and practice of subsidies as well as the aims and tools of realization of the taxation policy; to discuss taxation policy in the EU; to investigate the essence of investments and theory of investment portfolios; to analyze the securities market and advantages and disadvantages of types of investment; to discuss the basic principles of investment fund management; to investigate financial analysis as an element of enterprise financial management; to discuss the basic principles of financial management turnover; to analyze the price concept and methods of definition of enterprise funds; to discuss optimisation problems of enterprise fund structuring; to investigate the methods of valuation of an enterprise.

The Course Annotation
The aim of the course is to give doctoral students an opportunity to acquire knowledge of the EU's national economy, its optimisation, history of development, the present situation and future opportunities. During the course, doctoral students will become acquainted with the history of development and future opportunities within the EU national economy, as well as with the place of Latvia and Poland in the European Union and world economy, and possible future processes. The doctoral students will study the main principles of the national economy, assess the state of the national economy both in Latvia and other countries, as well as analyse the distribution opportunities of the gross domestic product.
The tasks of the doctoral seminar: to analyse the aspects and evolutionary development of the national economy both in Latvia and other countries; to discuss the main developmental directions; to analyse the structure of the branch, as well as to analyse the inhabitants’ real income and methods of the provision of welfare.
