COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students will learn the basic sounds of the Spanish language while practicing speaking and listening. This will improve their conversational Spanish skills which will allow the students to practice the language in a way that is beneficial in real life situations. Other specific areas of study include recognition, pronunciation and spelling of basic vocabulary and grammar structure of the language. Students will also learn and appreciate the culture and art of Latin America and Spain through the use of a variety of materials and media.
You will learn…
…to speak using longer sentences. You don’t always know every word but you can speak around it so that you are understood.
…to speak naturally in a straightforward social situation.
…to answer questions with accuracy.
…to create dialogs, essays, and to express your opinions in Spanish.
…to understand simple passages and get a general idea of more complex texts in the Textbook AVENTURA!.
…to write complete thoughts creatively and clearly.

Students Expectations:

*BE TO CLASS ON TIME! *R-E-S-P-E-C-T
*Bring all materials to class! *Keep room clean!
*PARTICIPATE!
*Try to speak Spanish in class to your teacher, your peers and especially during activities.
ABSENT: It is your responsibility to get your HW and notes if you are absent. If you know ahead of time that you will be gone let me know so I can give you what you will miss.
Grading: Classwork/Quizzes 30% This will include any work we do in class such as worksheets bookwork, group work, speaking activities and participation.
HW 10% When homework is turned in on time. Projects & Test 60% This will include any chapter test and projects. (Test may be retaken if the grade is below 80. /
