●  Play Unit 7 About U.S. Jeopardy PowerPoint. Discuss and clarify vocabulary & concepts. For academic skills practice, ask students to take notes during your presentation.
●  Students ask each other the questions on p. 20, 33, and 105 orally without looking at possible answers
●  Students complete p. 105 using the sentences in the box

Suggested Tasks & Activities
●  Think-pair-share with a partner about the people on p. 100- Why are they important to U.S. history?
●  Students complete p. 101 alone, check answers with a partner
●  Students write sentences about each of the pictures: “Christopher Columbus came to America in 1492. George Washington is the father of our country.”
●  Have students categorize people into different categories/time periods : Colonial Times, Presidents, Founding Fathers, 1800s, 1900s (note: some people would be in more than 1 category)

●  Students play history board game in small groups

●  Think-pair-share with a partner about the dates on p. 103- students talk with a partner about what happened during the years listed on the timeline
●  Students match events to the correct year on p. 103 alone, check answers with a partner
●  Students ask each other about the events: “When did Columbus come to America?” “When was the Constitution written?”
●  Students write out sentences, “In 1492, Columbus came to America.” “In the 1600s, people from Europe came to live in the 13 colonies.”

Suggested Tasks & Activities
●  Play Unit 7 History Jeopardy with students
●  Students play history board game in small groups
●  Unit 7 Assessment: Put students in pairs and give the first person the quiz for the unit. One student asks the questions and marks yes/no for his/her partner based on the answers in italics. Then the interviewer gives feedback to his/her partner on the questions they answered correctly and practices the questions they got wrong again. Then the partners switch and the other student asks the questions, marks the paper, and gives feedback.
