WHEREAS:Any change in the number of wards and precincts will have an impact on the number of voting locations, and location of a number of voting places will very likely have an impact on voter participation; and

WHEREAS:This City Council has consistently encouraged the Election Commission and other agencies responsible for the conduct of elections to make every effort to increase voter participation; now therefore be it

ORDERED:That this City Council request the City Manager and the Election Commission to report back to this City Council and offer the City Council an opportunity to be updated and offer comments prior to any vote on such matters regarding the Election Commission’s consideration of reducing the number of wards and precincts by May 7, 2001.
