2. 2011 onwards...Sports Kits

RS: In 2008 Select Sports contract for sports kits for every team was taken out. We have had some good feedback but other teams have felt that the kits were designed for only hockey and rugby. If we renew the contract it will go on until 2014. So we need to think about are we happy with styles, quality etc. Are there any changes we would like? Does anyone have any feedback? Also bare in mind that they will have to last 3 seasons of play.

If you have any views or points to raise regarding kit please see me (RS) in the office between now and the next council meeting.

3. 2011 onwards...Pitches

RS: A contract was signed in 2008 with Imber Court for 3 years for the use of their sports ground for netball, rugby and football. Netball only use one court, hockey play elsewhere and the Men’s rugby team now play at Wimbledon RFC. We need to think about whether we want to renew our contract with Imber court. 5 years ago, when we lost Cobham as a home-ground, it was decided that students still wanted a ‘home-ground’ and, hence, the contract with Imber Court was signed. Questions we need to think about are:

  • Do we still want a ‘home-ground’?
  • Do we want to find somewhere new or renew contract with Imber Court?

It is possible that we could just renew the contract for another year so we have more time to think about what we want, and maybe find another site, but this is going to be quite difficult as most local green space is school property and not for use on Wednesday afternoons.

You need to go back to your sports teams and think about what your needs are, where you want your games to be played, do you want a home ground, facilities that you require etc? We will discuss this further at the next meeting, but please come and speak to me (RS) in the office before then if you have any concerns.

The SU wants what is best for the clubs and we are willing to help find a solution that suits all.

JV: When does the contract end?

RS: It runs out at the end of this season. But there is the potential to just renew for a year.

JV: Has the university put a cap on costs for pitches?

RS: The university hasn’t put a cap on costs.

4. Minibus Tests

RS: There are 10 spaces, priority will be given to those clubs/societies who don’t have any drivers. You have to be 21, had 3 years driving experience (UK license) and no points. I am currently trying to sort out a date and will email everyone once a date has been confirmed so keep your eyes open.

TL: If you have completed the Wandsworth Community Transport minibus test, can this be transferred to the SU minibuses?

RS: I will check to see if this still stands.

ACTION POINT: RS to find out if the Wandsowrth Community Transport minibus test can be transferred to the SU minibus.
