JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Maintenance Associate

Reports to: Executive Director

Exempt Status: Non-exempt

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To serve as the team leader who is responsible for ensuring proper maintenance of the building and grounds at Elmbrook Humane Society (EBHS). To collaborate on the creation and implementation of organizational operations policies and procedures. To maintain a commitment to the philosophies and policies of EBHS in the performance of his/her duties and respect the dignity and basic rights of each animal. To support the mission of EBHS.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for ordering and inventory controls of building and grounds related supplies, with all purchasesbeing approved by the Executive Director.
  • Responsible for building/grounds maintenance which includes, but is not limited to:
  • Changing filters.
  • Tidying up flower beds so that bark is free and clear of sidewalks.
  • Assisting the Garden Volunteer group as needed.
  • Scheduling routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Helping fix equipment.
  • Coordinating building and grounds contract work.
  • Properly disposing of Sharps.
  • Ensuring sidewalks are clear of snow and properly salted.
  • Responsible for transporting donated aluminum cans, at minimum once a week.
  • Responsible for picking up donations from local businesses as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Volunteer Coordinator to secure and oversee volunteers to assist with building and grounds maintenance needs.
  • Serve on Facilities Committee.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Appropriate technical degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Pleasant, professional, public image.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with building and grounds maintenance.
  • Experience operating various equipment including, but not limited to hand tools, HVAC systems, and lighting.
  • Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Able to work flexible hours, which may include weekends.
  • Valid WI Driver’s License.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Physical demands include:
  • lifting and moving equipment that may exceed 50 pounds.
  • frequent movement, including but not limited to standing, walking, stooping, climbing ladders, carrying heavy loads, movement of cages, and operation of motor vehicle.
  • Working conditions include:
  • possible exposure to dangerous, diseased, frightened, and injured animals.
  • working with strong cleaning agents on wet surfaces.
  • indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Emotional demands include:
  • euthanasia.
  • animal abuse.
  • animal neglect.
