Costume Requirements for Dakota -2015

Costume check is Saturday, February 7th- 9-noon! If you have questions about your costume, ask it before that ()

When choosing costumes please keep in mind that our show takes place in late spring- light colors, light weight sweaters and jackets are appropriate. We are in a small town but in the present time so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding the costume required.

All teenagers- need two costumes or “changes”

Modern day clothes to suit your character’s personality!

For most of Act 1:

  • Pants, capris, or shorts, shirt to go with and shoes (no Uggs, or leggings please)
  • Avoid white and black tops or bottoms unless broken up with color- example; white t –shirt with a light sweater.

Pond Scene:

  • If you want to change your costume add a light jacket, long shorts, flip flops or sandals. Too cold still for most of you to swim!

Act II

Next day at the County fair:

  • Flannel shirt, jeans, jean shorts or jean capris with boots (cowboy, work boots like timberland, or short fashion boots)
  • We will provide cowboy hats

All Adults: need two costumes

Remember you are not teenagers and should look a bit more conservative and suit your character.

For Act 1-

  • Ladies: skirts and blouseswith jackets or sweaters and/or dress pants and dress shoes. Modest heels.
  • Sheriff Grace Douglas- rented costume but add some feminine touches- scarf, pin, jewelry, etc.
  • Flo- rented costume
  • Mrs. Mc Guthrie- old lady whacky is fine!
  • Gentleman- dress pants with shirts and light sweaters or jackets- no jeans!
  • State Fair Representatives:suits- look official!
  • Mayer Newhart- suit

Adults in Act 2

-more relaxed pants (still no jeans) such as khaki pants, cotton pants

  • Clowns-all costumes will be rented but look for crazy sneakers (keds or high top converse are fine) and wigs to complete your look!

You will also need a box to keep your costume in once you leave it in school.
