Sample AHERA-Required Annual Notifications

The following text could be used in the Student-Teacher Handbook and employee payroll stubs to notify persons about the availability of the management plan and the actions to taken during the coming year.

Case 1: For LEAs without asbestos:

We know that parents and staff are concerned about asbestos safety. We are happy toreport that all of our facilities have been thoroughly inspected and that there are noasbestos-containing building materials in any of them.

However, Kentucky and federal law require that we notify you annually that we maintain an asbestos management plan for each building. The plans are available in the office ofyour school and at the Administrative Services Center. You are welcome to inspect and copy these plans during regular business hours. If you have any questions about ourasbestos program, please call Fuller Concern, Asbestos Designated Person for the system at 555-5550.

We know that parents and staff are concerned about asbestos safety. While almost all our buildings are asbestos-free, there is still asbestos in the high school. This building hasvinyl asbestos floor tile in a few areas and asbestos-containing pipe insulation inmaintenance areas. We are currently maintaining these materials in a safe condition byour ongoing surveillance, reinspection, and operations & maintenance program.

We know that parents and staff are concerned about asbestos safety. While almost all our buildings are asbestos-free, there is still vinyl asbestos floor tile and asbestos pipeinsulation in the the high school. We are currently maintaining these materials in a safe condition by our ongoing surveillance, reinspection, and operations & maintenance program, and during the coming year we will be removing the floor tile as part of our renovation and modernization of this building. Before the renovation is begun, we willhave an information meeting for parents, teachers, and employees.
