Corea Kindergarten Snack List

ALL SNACKS MUST BE “HEALTHY” as well as

PEANUT/NUT FREE
Your child is responsible to bring his/her own snack to school each day except on “no snack days” (single sessions, field trips, delayed openings, birthday celebrations and parties). These days will be posted on the calendar on my web site.

There is a District policy that prevents students from “sharing” a snack. So if your child’s snack is not brought to school, he/she will have to skip snack on that day.

Each snack is to be brought to school in a clear, plastic disposable bag with your child’s name written on it (to assist in proper distribution). The “snack” size plastic bags are perfect for a snack. The “sandwich” size bags are too large. Remember, this is to be a small snack, not a meal.

Please do not send in a snack or drink in a container that will need to be brought home. Everything will be thrown away at the completion of the snack time each day. NO lunch boxes.

Select a snack from the following list:

Crackers: Saltines, Town House, Triscuits, Graham Crackers- original (NOT chocolate or cinnamon/sugar), etc

Goldfish: pretzel, rainbow, cheddar etc. ~ not the “cookie” ones

Pretzels or popcorn

½ a bagel or a mini bagel

Cheese: cubed, slices, string cheese

Fresh Vegetables, Fresh or Dried Fruit: carrots, celery, cucumbers, tomatoes, raisins, apple, grapes, banana,

strawberries, cherries, blueberries, an orange (pre peeled), etc

Homemade Muffin (not chocolate chip) or Bread

Dry Cereal (“healthy” not the “sugary” varieties)

Yogurt, Gogerts- the “plain” flavors, not with the candy on the lid

Do not send any of the following as they are considered “inappropriate” for a classroom snack:

donuts, cookies, candy, cake, cupcakes, rice crispy treats, “breakfast” bars, granola bars, coffee cake

Teddy Grahams, cinnamon sugar or chocolate graham crackers, animal crackers, “cookie” gold fish

sugary dry cereal, trail mix, corn chips, potato chips, tostito chips, Freetos, cheese doodles (and similar

snacks including “sun chips”, “pirates bootie” and “vegetable” chips/sticks)

jello, jello with fruit pieces, pudding, fruit “cocktail” and other fruits that are in syrup

fruit roll up and fruit chews (chewy fruit bites)

Thank you for helping to make snack time in kindergarten a safe and healthy learning experience.
