Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity in the Risk Management department. We are looking to build a world class safety team at Core-Mark. You will be working with a highly motivated team to build a proactive Safety culture and execute exciting new initiatives. We are looking for a self-starter with superior analysis and communication skills. This individual is expected to explain information and influence others in order to secure successful implementation of safety programs and directives, as assigned.
Role and Responsibilities
The Corporate Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, directing and auditing the Company’s U.S. and Canadian health and safety programs to effectively control safety and health risks, while ensuring compliance with various regulatory agencies. The manager, through the coordination of various resources, will provide oversight and assistance to all levels of management on safety matters ranging from training, hazard assessment and correction, accident investigations, inspections, analytics and strategic, incident prevention programs.
Essential Job Duties:
·  Ensure full implementation and visibility of the company’s injury & illness prevention program
·  Identify and mitigate hazards.
·  Investigate serious incidents, accidents and injuries and notify management of pertinent details.
·  Keeps apprised of developments in federal and state safety laws likely to affect the company.
·  Acts as company representative in dealing with government agencies on safety and health matters affecting the company.
·  Assist division management with understanding OSHA regulations and standards and provide guidance on OSHA compliance, inspections and citations.
·  Enhance and perform Corporate Safety Audits (travel required). Present findings and recommendations to management while ensuring buy-in on action plans for required corrective and preventive actions.
·  Instruct in the methods and procedures of safety practices, hazardous materials management, and worksite compliance.
·  Develop and implement safety training programs for regulatory compliance and reduction of incidents and costs.
·  Manage the company’s Learning Management System
·  Review accident statistics to identify loss trends and establish target areas for long-range accident prevention and cost-control objectives.
·  Develop, enhance Leading and Lagging Indicators to proactively reduce risks
·  Assist with the development of employee safety recognition programs.
·  Facilitate Culture Change through Behavior Based Safety
·  Provide clear and concise reporting.
·  Assist with safety due diligence and integration of acquisitions
·  Work with claims management to follow high-cost or precedent-setting cases.
·  Develop annual loss control plan and direct various third parties for thorough and successful execution.
·  Use independent judgement and discretion to analyze situations accurately and take effective action.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
·  Bachelor's degree in safety engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field is preferred
·  Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status is preferred
·  Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse and transportation industry, developing and implementing safety programs across multiple sites/States, preferably in a corporate capacity, for regulatory compliance, standardization, loss reduction and safety culture improvement.
·  Knowledge of OSHA and DOT required. Food Safety & HACCP knowledge is a plus
·  Proficiency with Excel, Word, SharePoint
·  Experience with a Safety Management or Learning Systems required. Access, a plus.
·  Strong organization and analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate safety and regulatory information.
·  Excellent verbal, written and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management Strong written and oral communication skills required.
·  Work well independently and as part of a team, remotely or present, as needed.
