  • Ensuring classes offered in Corcoran meet student demand to ensure mastery of skills in the first semester, not the second

  • Ensure that students earn credit each semester
  • Offer summer “bridge” classes here in Corcoran prior to beginning first year at COS to address basic skills needs.

Student Success in Completing their Education

  • Better coordination of online classes with Corcoran High School counseling office
  • Limitations that prevent “lifetime” students
  • Work with High Schools so there is no need for Basic English/Math and provide true “college” academics.
  • Start working with high school students prior to graduation to steer them towards employable careers/interests
  • Work experience/General and targeted towards degree/opportunity
  • Offer a variety of breadth requirements to Corcoran High School students

Student Access

  • Assignments that are geared to teach from another ethnicity’s perspective (act as if it were their own)
  • To meet the goal to keep websites current, why don’t you encourage students to give back, offer community service, to help update the sites? They are the savviest and maybe it will be used.
  • Have Kings County Transportation Agency and Tulare County Transportation Agency coordinate to offer subsidized transportation for Corcoran Students
  • Make sure computer servers can handle demand
  • Bilingual classes in all areas of the curriculum
  • Create marketing brochure for ED to Go classes – general info about program
  • Internet/Email for Older adults
  • We need a longer open window for concurrent enrollment – one that is planned around high school schedules and working adults.
  • Do not cancel courses before registration deadline
  • Less departments – Make a “One Stop” to get all services
  • Make use of our Technology Learning Center
  • Increase internet course offerings

Economic Growth in Kings and Tulare Counties

  • Keyboarding/Computer skills class in Corcoran
  • Vocational Education classes in Corcoran (i.e. Mechanic, Electrician,Welder, etc,)
  • Work with employers in area to see what the need in employees
  • Mentorships from employers/professionals
  • Offer computer classes to both high school students and the community
  • Offer more basic computer/Tech classes in all communities

Citizens of a Global Community

  • Offer Mandarin (will likely be the language in the future)
  • Plan multicultural events geared toward an elementary school audience and invite schools to attend
  • Conversation Spanish as a class in Corcoran
  • Conduct focus groups within all communities

Efficient and Effective College Practices

  • Explore jobs in the area of “Green” economy
  • Provide classes for employers to “Go Green” in order to bring jobs to the green economy
  • Create program/studies for students in the field of renewable energy resources
  • Establish Green/Energy Program in Corcoran
  • Solar Paneling installation
