Coquitlam Pilates Class Description & Schedule 2016 SESSIONS

The following courses are organized in level of difficulty from beginner, intermediate to advance –levels 1, 2 to 3. These registered group training classes run on a monthly basis. Per class session runs 55 minutes.

GROUP MAT CLASSES

Intensive Matwork – level 1-2

A great starting point for beginners, this essential matwork course teaches the five basic principles of the STOTT PILATES method and builds a foundation of exercises required to move on to the next level. This mat-based workout is designed to help participants develop longer leaner muscles, establish core strength and stability, and heighten mind-body awareness. Students are welcome to stay in the Essentials class until they and their teacher feel they are ready to move on to the next level.

Intensive Matwork – level 2-3

Stepping it up from essential matwork , more challenges are introduced on the intermediate level taking you through a dynamic, full-body workout that focuses on improving flexibility and core strength, with exercises that stretch and tone all muscle groups with full use of props.

Intermediate/Advance EquipmentDuet – level 2-3

After successfully learning the basics step it up a notch with more challenging exercises that would include choreography, balance, core stabilization. You will be working harder with the equipment and enjoy truly profound results.

Intensive Matwork – Level 3-4

This hour class is designed to specifically target your deep and superficial CORE muscles -front, back and sides body lines.Comprised of a series of movement that challenge overall strength and mobility with stability, this class uses the body’s own resistance couple with resistance props. Fundamental Stott Pilates principles are added to less traditional moves to focus on mobilization, while balancing the musculature around the joints. Particular attention is paid to balancing mobility and muscular balance in the lower kinetic chain. Be prepare to work hard.

Introductory Training

We require all new clients to take the Introductory Training before further persuing other programs offered. This is composed of 3 privates at a very discounted price. These initial sessions involve learning neutral spine positioning, core fundamentals, and coordinated breath work. With this strong foundation, the clients can safely and effectively execute the more challenging Pilates exercises. We utilize Pilates mats and apparatus as well as various pieces of auxiliary equipment, which provide a well-rounded workout for our clients

Flexibility & Stretch Training– (all levels)

Increase your range of movement in your joints and muscles. Feel relaxed and graceful, release accumulated stress and tension, improve flexibility, posture and physical awareness. Even more, experience alleviation of low back pains.

Yoga Flow 1-2

Yoga class that focuses on embracing each pose individuallywith time and technique. This class is designed to build strength, increasemobility and balance.

**Functional Core & Stretch

The core includes the traverse abdominis (TVA), erector spinae, obliques and your lower lats. These muscles work as stabilizers for the entire body. Core training is simply doing specific exercises to develop and strengthen these stabilizer muscles. This is combined with Stretch Therapy to target the flexibility component. Cross Fit NEW

An excellent way to improve mobility, strength and stamina. The class is styled to have 4-6 strength exercises that are completed one exercise after another. Each exercise is performed for a specified number of repetitions or for a set time before moving on to the next exercise. The exercises within each circuit are separated by a short rest period, and each circuit is separated by a longer rest period. Dynamic workout to energize and challenge core strength.

Sunrise Yoga NEW

Sunrise yoga is an all-levels yoga class specifically designed for what your body and mind most need after waking up in the morning. Sunrise is one of the best times to practice yoga, it presents the opportunity for you to create physical energy and mental focus for the day ahead.

EQUIPMENT CLASSES

For Privates and Semi Private Training only. Scheduled classes are booked by appointment . This includes training for rehab, strength & endurance, athletic conditioning using the reformers, stability chairs, ladder barrel, arc barrels , Cadillac as well as small props.

Essential Equipment – level 1-2

In this course you will learn the basic reformer & stability chair apparatus concepts focusing on core stability and use of breath to facilitate power from the core. You will learn safety and setup of the reformer, basic exercises and the principles of Pilates on the equipment.

Intermediate Equipment, Level 2-3

This course is the natural next step for those who wish to deepen their practice on the Reformer apparatus, stability chair, tower, ladder barrel. Increase your skill level with more fluid, core centered choreographed exercises on the reformer.

Advance Equipment

Benefit greatly from performance enhancement training. A higher caliber workout designed for to challenge balance, coordination and strength. Always initiating from the core, you’ll learn how to retrain muscles that may have become imbalanced and take your body to a new level of strength and agility. Pre requisite: must have taken Beginner Reformer first.

Breast Cancer Rehabilitation

Many more women are surviving breast cancer today than ever before and a specially designed fitness program is a tremendous asset to provide a more comfortable recovery and deliver increased strength and endurance to resume an active lifestyle. This class is a series of gentle, targeted resistance-based Reformer exercises, focusing on ROM for the entire shoulder girdle. Other areas of emphasis include establishing mobility, restoring posture, ensuring proper biomechanics and developing core and peripheral strength to address muscular imbalances developed from various types of surgeries and treatments.

Pilates for Teens

Now more than ever, young people need targeted exercise programs to keep them interested and committed. Using the padded surface of the Jumpboard and the spring resistance of the Reformer, teens will learn how engaging yet challenging the sessions can become. This is will complemented with mat work interval to focus on core strength, speed and agility as well as power combined with specific strengthening exercises for arms and legs.
