Registration for the 2010/2011 Season
Come out and join the Copley Youth Wresting Team for a fun season of wrestling!
Copley Youth Wrestling is a member of the Ohio Youth Wrestling Association. OYWA supports 13 sites throughout Northeastern Ohio, and involves approximately 120 teams and 3,000 wrestlers. Ohio Youth wrestling is an instructional league intended to help youngsters learn about the basic fundamentals of wrestling, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
Registration for the 2010-2011 season will be held at the Copley High School Wrestling Room (located behind CHS, enter beside the Tomahawk Room) on Wednesday October 27thand Thursday October 28th and Tuesday Nov 2nd from 5:30-8:00 p.m.
This program is open to all grades K – 6th ages 5 – 12 year olds.
The wrestling season will begin November 2nd and last thru February. First practice will be held on Tuesday November 2nd from 5:30-8:00 p.m.in the Copley High School Wrestling Room.
All practices during the season will be held at CopleyHigh School in the Wrestling Room. Experienced wrestlers (grades 3rd-6th) will have practice Tuesday and Thursday 6:30-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The inexperienced wrestlers (grades K-2nd) will practice Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Competitive matches will take place at MedinaHighlandHigh Schoolon Sundays at 1 p.m.
Every wrestler on the team will be able to compete in matches on Sunday. There will be 2 divisions of competition: 1.Varsity Level (for the experienced wrestlers). 2. All-Star Level (for the inexperienced wrestlers). Wrestlers will be paired up in a match with someone having a similar level of experience, weight, and age. There are 19 different weight classesat the varsity level that need to be filled for experienced wrestlers division 52, 56, 60, 64, 67, 70, 73, 76, 79, 82, 86, 90, 95, 102, 110, 120, 145, 160, 180lbs. There will be a sectional, district, and Youth State Championship Tournament for the varsity and an end of the year tournament for the All-Star Division. There will also be other open wrestling opportunities for all members of the team throughout the season.
The sign up cost is $90 per wrestler. Families with more than one wrestler will be eligible for a discounted rate. Each wrestler will be provided a t-shirt, and year end award. Team uniform will be provided for matches and needs to be returned at the end of the season. Head gear and wrestling shoes will need to be purchased (we do have limited number of shoes and headgear that can be purchased from the team). There will be an end of the season banquet and awards program, that the whole family is invited to attend.
