Attire

Work out shorts/ sweat pants, and t-shirts need to be worn every day(GOLDEN RULE: no buttons, no zippers). Shorts and shirts that do not comply with the CHS dress code will not be appropriate and the student will not receive credit for that day.

Athletic shoes need to be worn each day. Flip Flops, sandals, boots, etc. are not safe attire for PE class, and they will not count towards being dressed for class.

Tardy/Absences–---PLEASE READ carefully!

If a student is tardy in the morning, he/she must get a pass from an administrator in the office (See student handbook). If a student is not in the gym when the bell rings to begin class he/she is considered tardy. If the tardy is 5 minutes or more, a discipline referral to the administrator will follow. You will have 5 more minutes to change your clothes and sit in your designated area. The following actions will be taken:

1-2 tardies-warning

3-4 tardies-detention

5 or more tardies- referral to the office as a habitual offender

*For tardies less than 5 minutes, the count starts over each 9 weeks

Excused absences: an exemption will be issued for 1 day missed. A report must be written when multiple days in a row are missed. Final grades will be based on time spent in class. If a student is in school but cannot participate in physical exercise, he/she MUST have a note from a parent (nonconsecutive days –2 days max) or doctor (days out depends on doctor recommendation).Again, reports will be written any time students cannot participate for multiple days missed. Excessive absences can result in lower grades and reports will have to be written to receive credit for various activities (as needed). Unexcused absences cannot be made-up.

Grades will be based on a variety of methods listed below. All assignments will be based on a point system.

Gum/Food/Drinks

We want to do our part in keeping our facilities as nice as possible. GUM, FOOD, and DRINKS are not allowed on the gym floors. Water is acceptable and recommended during class as long as it has a screw top lid, and kept in designated areas.

There will be NO usage of personal phones, iPod’s, iPad’s during instructional class time, unless directed by teacher to do so. Personal electronic devices are YOUR responsibility if brought to class; they can be confiscated. We are NOT responsible for any lost, broken or stolen items. We will be using many different facilities throughout the session (main gym, auxiliary gym, track, outdoor space, tennis courts, computer lab, etc.) DO NOT leave any personal belongings behind in these areas. Students may bring a lock and use the gym lockers if the wish. We will not be responsible for missing items not locked up.
