Coordinator

Purpose

Purpose:

To determine eligibility and process TEXAS Grants, TEACH Grants, GAANN fellowships, EMBA/Executive Nursing awards and monitoring dropped courses for AP students.

Essential Functions

Function 1:

TEXAS Grant - determine initial eligibility, award grants, monitor eligibility requirements for continuing students, complete and submit required Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board reports, and process TASFA forms for HB 1528 students to determine TEXAS Grant eligibility.

30% Time

Function 2:

TEACH Grant - collect appropriate applications and other documents to determine TEACH Grant eligibility, update student records in PeopleSoft to reflect receipt of required documents, award TEACH Grants to eligible students, contact students concerning missing documents.

20% Time

Function 3:

Monitor enrollment changes including adding and dropping courses particularly for the multiple start dates for the AP programs to ensure that students remain eligible for financial aid they have been awarded.

15% Time

Function 4:

Work with the College of Business and the College of Nursing to determine students attending the EMBA and the Executive Nursing Programs, update financial aid budgets and awards to consider the additional costs for these programs, act as a resource for these students when questions arise.

10% Time

Function 5:

Work with appropriate academic departments to determine need eligibility for students applying for GAANN scholarships, revise awards as appropriate and contact students as necessary.

Function 6:

Meet with students and their families concerning financial aid awards, answer questions in person, on the telephone and via e-mail.

Function 7:

Participate in outreach activities to the community, make financial aid presentations to prospective students and families.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in awarding federal and/or state financial aid programs. Applicants must include in their online resume the following information: 1) Employment history: name of company, period employed (from month/year to month/year), job title, summary of job duties and 2) Education: If some college or college degree, list school name, degree type, major, graduated or not and hours completed if not graduated.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience using PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, document imaging systems, and Microsoft Office suite. . Experience awarding state financial aid programs that include reporting to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to use standard personal computer equipment.
