A. Early Years Window of Focus

1) 1) Best Start Network Meeting October 12

a) Kim Little provided an overview of the OEYCFC plan submitted by United

Counties to the Ministry of Education (posted)

b) Members discussed moving forward with early years planning; role of Best Start

  • Need to revise TOR and determine gaps/alignment with OEYCFC Plan
  • Reaching out to minority families – e.g. French language families
  • Next Meeting November 9

2) Sub Committee working on Response to EDI Outcomes (Cathy Millard)Meeting

October 19

a)Members reviewed Facebook and social media messages for each of the subdomains of EDI physical domain (Gross motor skills, fine motor skills, school readiness)

b)Messages will be sent out in a planned sequence with EKIOC taking the lead for Facebook and Twitter messages

B. School Age

1) Youth Service Providers – Youth Collective Impact Workgroup (Tawnya

Boileau, Sue Poldervaart, Brent Dalgleish, Margaret Fancy) Meeting October 19

  • Discussed Stepping Up document and relationship to local data
  • Decision to include local data that corresponds to assets identified by EKIOC
  • Next Steps will include bringing together the YSP group that met in July and writing questions for youth focus groups.

2) Power Up Summit Part 2 – MeetingOctober 16

Date – November 24

Location – Brockville Memorial Centre

Format – Keynote followed by reports on youth engagement projects

Registration is now open. (Email distributed to EKIOC partners)

3) Read to Every Kid – (Margaret Williams)

  • A grant application for funding to support French RTEK is being submitted
  • I will be making a presentation to Rotary Club in Brockville to secure more funding for the program
  • Members are asked to revisit their commitment to the program. (How is it being promoted with families; who on staff is contact; what support do you need?)

C. Intersection

1) Poverty Reduction Alliance – (Loretta Corbeil)

Meeting October 16

  • Loretta Corbeil will remain as chair
  • Planning to engage voice of lived experience across the Counties – what 3 changes would make biggest difference?
  • Tanis Brown shared a proposed Health Equity Marketing Campaign (will bring to Lead Table)
  • Members will assist in collecting “Game Changer” Data as part of creating community picture of poverty in LG
  • Next Meeting – December 11 9:30 UCLG

2) Transportation Committee –(Beth Steel)

Michael Stanley has agreed to take over as chair of this committee. (Thank you Michael!)

3) Healthy Kids Community Challenge – Meeting October 4

  • Fruit and Vegetable theme wrapping up – focus on sustainability of approved projects
  • New Theme – Screen Time

3 Ways to Address

Stay within screen time limits

Put screens away during important times of day

Replace with other activities

  • There will be funding attached to the theme

4) Triple P (Cathy Millard)

  • “Data Meeting” November 16 to develop a survey to capture what is happening with Triple P in various communities

A survey related to respite services is being developed for relevant community partners.
