Controller E Profibus gateway setup using the SST Profibus Configuration Tool
The SST Profibus Configuration Tool consist of a main view (network view) and two frames: the Profibus Devices frame and the On-line Browse frame. Both of these are floating frames; drag and drop them to move them anywhere inside the network view.
Step 1: Configure the SST Profibus master
- Establish communications between the Profibus master and the PC using an RS232 cable.
- Start the SST Profibus Configuration Tool
- Under the File menu, Select New to create a new configuration
- To set the baud rate for the Profibus network, Highlight and right click the Profibus DP title in the network view. A drop down menu appears, select Properties. The network dialog box opens. For our example, we will set the baud rate to 12Mbps.
- Find and Select your Profibus master device (SST-PFB-SLC) in the Profibus Device frame. This is located under the Masters folderSST FolderSST-PFB-SLC master
- Drag and Drop the SST-PFB-SLC master into the network view frame
- The SST-PFB-SLC window appears, specify the address of the master under the master station number in the General tab.
- In the Com port tab, select the com port that is available on the laptop.
- Click OK. The Profibus master is now added to the network view.
Step 2: Configure Controller E Profibus Gateway
- Find and Select the controller-e device under the Profibus Device frame. This is located under the Slave folderifm electronicsAS-I DP gateway.
If the IFM DP gateway is not listed, under the Library menu, select “AddGSD”. The Add Profibus Device window opens. Find the GSD file called AS-I DP gateway and Click Open. This file can be downloaded from the AS-I support web page located at asi_support.htm. You can now add the device to the network view window as described above.
- Drag and drop the AS-I DP gateway into the network view under the Profibus master.
A Configuration dialog box appears for the selected slave. (Figure 1)
Figure 1
- Set the address of the Profibus gateway under the General tab Stationaddress.
- In the Module tab, add modules as seen below (See Figure 2). This will setup the gateway for A and B addressing with 4 bytes for the command channel for channel 1. This must be in the correct order. Click OK once these parameters are set.
