28 / ALUMINUM 14 FT. VAN:
Required 14 ft. van body c/w cab roof cut out with sloped cab roof relief so driver can stand up from driver’s seat to enter the van body.
Roof and walls to be min. 10 gauge aluminum, wall posts at 12” on centre, wall surface to be fastener-free.
Frame all to be aluminum, 3” x 3/16” channel cross members at 16” on centre with tubular aluminum main rails with a bolted mount system. NOTE: U-bolt mount will not be accepted.
Roof, walls and floor to be insulated. Body to have integrated skirting c/w radius wheel well openings with enough room to install snow chains. An aluminum ramp is to be supplied to supply access to the rear door opening. This ramp is to be stored under the body floor c/w a locking device to prevent it from sliding out. / □

Ceiling, walls, doors, and under flooring are to be insulated with closed-cell spray foam, min. 2”. / □
32 / DOORS:
Two (2) doors required.
One (1) rear centre 38” wide.
This door to be hinged on the left side.

This door to be hinged on the right side.
Doors are to be insulated c/w checker plate aluminum inner door skin and to have dark tint thermo windows, 12” x 18”, in the upper half of the door.
Doors are to be sealed with automotive bubble rubber door seals. Doors are to have stainless steel hinges and slam-style keyed freezer handle door latches. These latches are to have provision for opening the doors from the inside. All doors are to have gas springs to hold the doors in the open position, slightly more than 90 degrees. There shall be 24” long knurled stainless steel grab handles at both van door openings. / □
33 / EXTERIOR COMPARTMENT:
There shall be two (2) exterior compartments in the lower skirt on the left side of the body between the rear wheel and front of the body. These compartments to be 16”H x 22”D with the width to be divided evenly between the two. These compartments are to be vented. / □
34 / STEP WELLS:
There shall be a step well at both door openings. The side door shall have a double inside step, the rear door to have a single inside step. The ramp is to be inserted through the riser of this step. These steps are to be covered with NFPA compliant checker plate. / □
35 / FRONT BULKHEAD:
Protective aluminum with 2” square 3/16” mesh bulkhead (floor to ceiling) forward of the side man door to protect driver and passenger. The bulkhead shall have a pocket door so the occupants can travel from the cab to the storage area. / □
36 / VAN INTERIOR:
3/4” composite flooring c/w Lonseal vinyl floor covering, type Loncoin II, colour grey.
Aluminum paneling shall cover the walls and ceiling, colour white. / □
37 / INTERIOR LIGHTING:
Require min. three (3) LED recess mounted lights, each with min. 900 lumens, to provide adequate lighting under the darkest conditions. These lights are to be activated by 3-way switches, c/w indicator light, one at the dash, and one at the side man door. / □
38 / SCBA/O2 BOTTLE STORAGE:
There shall be storage for fifty-four (54) SCBA bottles and O2 bottles type “D” combined. Require Zico Quick-Storage Rack, model PACSR-Y c/w restraint straps, or Surrey approved equal. This storage rack is to be able to store either MSA Stealth L-30 bottles or type “D” oxygen bottles. This storage shall be in the rear left and right corners of the van with access from the centre walkway. Prefer three wide by nine to ten high. This storage is to be designed so the bottles will not slide out during transport. Exact layout to be determined at pre-construction meeting. / □
39 / MAIL STORAGE:
There shall be twenty two (22) vertical mail slots, eleven (11) mounted behind the driver’s seat, eleven (11) mounted behind the passenger seat on the bulkhead. These slots are to be 20” wide, 8” high, with a 5” deep opening for each slot. Exact layout and design to be determined at pre-construction meeting. / □
40 / HAND TRUCK STORAGE:
There shall be a storage area behind the driver’s side bulkhead to secure a hand truck.
Approximate dimensions 20” wide. / □
41 / SHELVING:
There shall be 1/8” all aluminum shelving on both interior sides painted white. The left side from the bottle storage to the hand truck storage. The right side from the bottle storage to the side man door.
This shelving is to store Rubbermaid Roughneck storage boxes, 14 gal., #2212, approx. dimensions 23”L x 16”W x 12”H. There should be three rows of shelving for these boxes on each side. This shelving will be designed in a way to prevent the boxes from sliding out while in transport and be rubber lined. If space permits, there will be a top shelf with clear drop down plexiglass doors. The shelving is to start 30” from the floor to provide storage for Rubbermaid Cube Trucks, model 4608. This lower storage area is to have two rows of “E” track for ratchet straps to secure the Cube Trucks. Exact layout and design of the shelving to be determined at pre-construction meeting. / □
42 / REAR BUMPER:
There shall be a 10” deep step bumper with 3” x 2” aluminum tube frame c/w aluminum safety-tread surface. There shall be two (2) 2” x 10” dock bumpers for the rear bumper. / □
43 / MUD FLAPS:
There shall be a pair of rubber mud flaps behind the rear wheels c/w anti-sway brackets. / □
44 / CROSSVIEW MIRROR:
There shall be a crossview mirror mounted on top rear left corner of the van body. / □
45 / SCENE LIGHTING:
There shall be two (2) Whelen M9LZC scene lights c/w chrome plastic bezels. One to be installed to the left side of the side man door, the other one mounted to the right side of the rear door near the top. These lights are to be activated by 3-way switches, c/w indicator light, one mounted at the dash, the other by the side man door. / □
46 / WARNING LIGHTING:
There shall be four (4) Whelen M6A amber warning lights c/w chrome plastic bezels on the front and rear top corner areas. These lights are to have alternating flash pattern. They are to be activated by a switch, c/w indicator light, at the dash. / □
47 / 2-WAY RADIO AND ANTENNA WIRING:
Install customer supplied 2-way radio in cab and antenna wiring to top of the van body. Exact location to be determined at pre-construction meeting. / □

One complete set of repair, service and part manuals (or CD Rom/DVD).
One copy of operator’s manuals.

The Contractor is to provide training to the City’s Fire Services mechanics in the maintenance and repair of the vehicle being proposed by factory or factory trained personnel. / □
