Hanover, March 19, 2015. In an article entitled "The best tires for the mid-range," auto motor und sport magazine (ams, 7/15 issue) reported on a performance comparison between the latest summer tire models. The ContiSportContact 5 took first place as the undisputed victor, and was the only model to receive the top rating "highly recommended." The tires received the best overall rating in the wet comparison by some margin, and experts praised their balance in the assessment of driving characteristics on dry roads. "The (...) ContiSportContact 5 did not appear to have any weaknesses in the wet" they noted after the tests on wet road surfaces. For the tests on dry asphalt, they summarized the result as follows: "Stable with short braking distances." The RainSport 3 rain tires from Uniroyal that were represented in the test proved their mettle with a "recommended" rating in a test field dominated by premium brands. The editors especially praised their "excellent aquaplaning characteristics."

The experts from the ams included nine tire models from European, American, and Asian manufacturers in the test; the 225/50 R 17 W size that is frequently fitted to mid-range vehicles was tested. The test vehicle was a Mercedes-Benz C-class.
