STAGE I – DESIRED RESULTS
Lesson Topic (Standards/Anchors):
A1.1.1.2.1 Find the Greatest Common Factor (GCF)
and/or the Least Common Multiple (LCM)
for sets of monomials. / Big Ideas:
Numbers, measures, expressions, equations, and inequalities can represent mathematical situations and structures in many equivalent forms. / Understanding Goals (Concepts):
1.  Finding the GCF between two numbers
2.  Factoring about common factors
3.  Finding the LCM between two numbers
4.  Using LCM to find common denominators
Student Objectives (Competencies/Outcomes): / Essential Questions: / Vocabulary:
1.  Where in the distributive property do you find use of GCF?
2.  Is it used anywhere else in math ?
3.  IN finding LCMs, why do they get so large ?
4.  Where is math are LCMs used ? / ·  Common factors
·  GCF
·  LCM
·  Common denominator
·  Distributive property
1.  Students will factor two algebraic expressions; find the common factors, and simplify the expression.
2.  Students will factor two algebraic expressions; find the LCM; apply this to finding common denomimators
3.  Use Think Through Math in math lab to review and remediate content for Algebra 1 Keystone Exam
STAGE II – ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE
