Residency Proposal
Afro-Brazilian Arts
The mission of the Afro Brazilian Arts Residency is to inspire, nurture and sustain the creativity of every child to encourage productive and caring human beings.
An arts-rich education provides children with the ability to look beyond facts and figures and creatively meet new challenges as they arise. Studying the arts makes learning fun, providing an environment varied and compelling enough to engage even the most reluctant learners and providing day-dreamers with a classroom as rich as their imagination.
Students learn about Brazil’s culture and social history by studying three dances – Capoeira, Maculele and Samba. These dances are deeply rooted in the national experience of Brazil.
