IMBIZO MAIN THEME

Sustainability is Every Young Professional’s Business

CESA YPF invites Young Professionals, Speakers and Sponsors to participate in discussions regarding their and rightful positionin communities and built environment professions.

MEANING

Sustainability means a lot of things to different people;

To our communities it means availability of drinking water, sanitation, roads, roof over their heads, schools, clinics and medicine, etc.

For us it means development of skills and innovation, leadership, and providing solutions to sustainable development and much more. The development of people and institutions is the prerequisite for the development of sustainable infrastructure.

“The development of people and institutions comes before development of infrastructure.”

-Arthur Taute, President of FIDIC GAMA

AIM

The Imbizo is aimed at empowering YPs with best leadership experience embracing leading in general, as community activists and leading as professionals, as engineering activists.

The second objective is aim at establishing and maintaining structures, some may call it a platform for collective effort, for YPs to role model school leaners and for senior infrastructure professionals, majority been engineers to mentor YPs.

Third leg of the Imbizo provides solutions to skills development and retention by both public sector and private sector. No skills, no water, no housing, no roads, but 100% poverty.

REACH

The Imbizo’s impact extends beyond the delegates attending it has an immeasurable reach to our communities, augurs well for our country’s transformation and developmental agenda. It is also a springboard for client bodies and other continental professional associations to institute young professional forums or similar platforms to empower youth from kindergarten to workplace.

Though the Imbizo is arranged by young professionals within the consulting engineering sphere its success and reach will depend on support from sponsorship by consulting engineering firms, CESA affiliates, government and government institutions and private sector.

IMPORTANCE

Investments on young professionals and young professionals forum are critical to ensuring continued communication, collaboration and partnership between the public client bodies and the private sector in their quest to professionalise the built environment and to create a conducive sustainable environment for consulting engineering firms to best deliver the best interest of the clients, the consulting engineering industry and the public.
