VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

SELECTION PROCESS FOR SUPPORT STAFF OF THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF BRAZIL IN HARTFORD (CHEF) (APPLICATION TIME – EXTENSION)

The selection Committee appointed by the Consul General of Brazil in Hartford, in the exercise of powers conferred upon him, announces that applications will be accepted from Jun 5th to Jun 28th, 2013, for two vacancies of Consulate’s Official Residence Support Staff Member (CHEF), as established by Decree 1,570 of July 21st 1995, and in accordance with the Administrative Ruling of the Minister of Foreign Relations, dated September 12th, 1995.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Provide evidence of the right to live in the United States and to be legally entitled to take full time paid employment at all times, according to local legislation. Brazilian nationals or nationals of third countries should provide a green card document or American Certificate of Naturalization, and American born nationals a birth certificate;

2. Have adequate command of both Portuguese and English languages;

3. Be physically and mentally able to work;

4. Fill in the application form provided by the Consulate fully, and including telephone numbers and email addresses, which the Consulate will use to contact the applicant in the process;

5. Present the original American Driver’s License;

6. Provide a 2”x2” photo;

7. Submit an updated Curriculum Vitae;

8. Present two reference letters from former employers;

9. Be at least 21 years of age;

10. Provide the original and copy of official identity card with photograph in which the date of birth is clearly stated; and for Brazilian nationals or nationals of third countries only, provide a photocopy of the main pages of the passport and green card;

11. Present a certificate or similar as evidence of midle school education and/or other certificates;

12. Present military selective service certificate or a waiver from duties, in case of Brazilian male national candidates under 45 years of age;

13. Present voting certificate and voting record (which can be obtained from ‘Tribunal Superior Eleitoral –TSE’ website), in case of Brazilian national candidates;

14. Have knowledge of Cooking);

13. Provide a signed statement that the applicant does not hold a post, have employment or is not in public service in Brazil, in case of Brazilian nationals;

16. On the occasion of submitting the application, the applicant must submit all original documents (or certified photocopies) which will be returned to the applicant on completion of the application and, also, photocopies of all documents listed in this announcement.

No applicant has the right to claim that he/she was unaware of the present instructions. There is no conditional application. Applications will only be accepted if all documents are provided.

JOB DESCRIPTION, RESPONSIBILITIES AND OTHER DETAILS:

The duties of the Consulate’s Oficial Residence Support Staff ( Chef) includes cooking, cleaning, serving, work, such as preparing and serving food, drinks and preparing sheets for inventory control, stock room, control and reporting; general maintenance of the Official Residence’s premises, performing messenger duties, providing coffee, telephone, serve the public on events and other support management duties, setting up and taking down exhibitions and events without detriment to duties and other activities of management support, if required.

The Consulate’s Oficial Residence Suport Staff Member (Chef) will work 40 hours per week, including on duty shifts, both in the evenings and on the weekends, according to task list set beforehand. Independently from on duty shifts, the staff member may be required to work at short notice in emergency situations or in case of urgent service requirements. Such calls will be compensated with time off (either hours or days), agreed between the parties, and properly recorded.

There will be a single remunerated probation period of three months.

The monthly remuneration will be US 1,975.00 (one thousand nine hundred seventy-five dollars). Overtime payment shall not exceed 20% of monthly salary.

Employment and Social Security laws to be established with the employed shall be governed by local laws. If employee dismissal occurs after 6 (six) months of effective work, it shall be granted a 30 (thirty) days dismissal notice, and ratable vacation pay.

BENEFITS: Health and Dental Insurance, Paid vacation. Enrollment and contribution to Pension Fund to INSS if Brazilian citizen.

SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS

Applications must be submitted in person only by presenting a complete set of required documents between 10 AM and 12 PM, from Jun 5th to Jun 28th, 2013, at the following address:

The Consulate General will not accept any applications by mail, and neither will accepted any late applications. During the application presentation period, there will be no correspondence with the applicants.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

The selection procedure will be held in phases: (i) examination of submitted documents and CV; (ii) interview; (iii) cooking test.

Phase (i) examination of submitted documents and CV will probably be carried out on Jul 1st, 2013.

Phase (ii) interview will probably be held on Jul 1st, 2013

Phase (iii) cooking test will probably be held on Jul 1st, 2013

The candidate must present himself/herself on phase ii and iii 15 minutes before the scheduled time with an application voucher and American driver’s license.

GENERAL PROVISIONS

The application submission implies that the applicant is aware and accepts all deadlines and rules in the present vacancy announcement. The applicant that makes a false or inexact statement, or does not meet the required mandatory criteria, may have his/her job application withdrawn at any point.

If the vacancy announcement results in applicants with the same level of competence, preference shall be given to the applicant with better knowledge in the Portuguese language and cooking.

FINAL RESULT

The result of the selection procedure will be announced by the Consulate probably on Jul 10 th, 2013. Not selected applicants will be notified by e-mail and by the Consulate’s website that the selection procedure was completed.

The selected applicant will be invited to present himself/herself to Consulate’s Administration Department on Jul 15 th, 2013, to sign the employment contract. The selected candidate will probably start working on To be announced. The selected canditate shall be available on the estimated dates above.
