Constitution of the Computer Game Developers Club
At The University of Texas at Arlington
Article I: Name and Object
- The name of this organization shall be Computer Game Developers Club, GDC, and a society for those interested in developing computer & electronic games.
- The Computer Game Developers Club, hereafter referred to as "GDC", shall be governed by this Constitution and any amendments or bylaws accepted by a 60% majority of the active members of the Club.
Article II: Purpose
- The purpose of the GDC shall be the encouragement of initiative and creativity in the field of computer & electronic game development and design.
Article III: Membership
- This Club shall consist of members. A member is a student who has requested member status from the Executive Council (EC).
- The membership of the Club shall be made up of those UT Arlington students interested in the field of computer & electronic game development.
- Eligibility for membership shall not be restricted according to race, creed, color, sex, national origins, disability, age, veteran status, sexual orientation, course major, or classification.
- An individual is considered to be an active member if he/she has been present to at least 50% of the total announced Club meetings or activities held up to the point of consideration in the particular semester or registered their desire to attend with an EC member. In the case that the time of joining is in the same semester as the particular semester, the time of consideration is from the beginning of his/her membership. Active members must be present in person at at least two meetings or activities during a long semester.
- Inactive members of this Club shall consist of all those members not otherwise considered active.
- The maximum number of members shall not be limited.
Article IV: Executive Council (EC)
- The Executive Council of the GDC shall consist of active Club members elected by other active Club members. The Executive Council shall comprise ten percent of the members, but no less than three individuals. Any active member is eligible to be on the Executive Council.
- The duties of the Executive Council shall include, but not be limited to, keep records of all transactions of the Club, and in particular, to keep the minutes and attendance of the meetings, manage financial transactions of the Club, and planning Club activities. They shall preside over Club meetings & activities. Individual responsibilities will be assigned by a mutual agreement between the EC members.
- Elections for the EC shall occur at least once per semester & as needed depending upon the size of the Club. Each EC position lasts for one long semester.
Article V: Meetings
- Meetings shall take place at least once every month, unless agreed upon otherwise by the EC.
- Special meetings may be called by the Faculty Advisors, the Executive Council, or by a special request approved by 33 1/3 % of the active members of the GDC.
- A quorum shall consist of 33 1/3% of the active members of the GDC in the conduct of the business of the Club, except for the election of Executive Council members, at which 60% of the active members of the Club must be present.
Article VI: Rules and Regulations
- This Club will function in accordance with all University rules and regulations.
Article VII: Ratification and Amendment
- This Constitution shall become effective immediately upon ratification.
- This Constitution shall remain in effect until amended.
- Any member of the Club at a regular or special meeting may propose amendments to this Constitution. The proposed amendment shall be discussed and a vote for further discussion shall be taken; a simple majority of the members present shall determine that consideration. On approval, the proposed amendment shall be formally framed by the Executive Council.
- A 60% favorable vote by active members shall be required for ratification of each amendment.
- The amendment shall become effective immediately upon announcement of the results of the ratification election.
Article VIII: Procedure of Meetings
- Meetings will be held as scheduled during the spring and fall semesters as stated previously.
- The order of conduct of a regular meeting shall be as follows:
- Call to order
- Roll call
- Reading of minutes
- Committee reports
- Unfinished business
- New business
- Adjournment
Article IX: Cost of Membership
- There is no cost of membership.
