Although the player states in his defence that he felt threatened and was punched twice before he felt a hand in the region of his eyes. None of this was reported by the referee in his report. No substantiating evidence was produced by either other players, coaches ,supporters or spectators. It is unclear whether a video of the game was made and no video evidence was presented by the player in his defence. The panel accepts that there could have been some provocation unseen by the referee and have taken this into account in giving a low entry of two weeks. An unprovoked punch to the head could warrant a mid entry level sanction.
