CONSERVATIVE FUTURE NATIONAL MANAGEMENT EXECUTIVE POSITION:

BUILDING CF BRANCHES IN MARGINAL SEATS

BACKGROUND:

Conservative Future is the youth wing of the Conservative Party. With 15,000 members it is larger than any other political youth wing. All members of the Conservative Party under the age of 30 are automatically members.

From October 1st the organisation will be led by a Chairman, Mark Clarke, and a National Management Executive (NME) who work in partnership with the National Organiser, Sarah Southern, to deliver an organisation which the Party and its members can be proud of.

The NME consists of six elected positions. From October 1st this will be Claire Palmer (Deputy Chairman), Karen Allen, Craig Cox, Ranil Jayawardena, Matthew Richardson and Christian Walker. There is scope for three more members to be co-opted to the NME by the existing members.

The NME have decided that there is an opportunity to boost the existing team by recruiting someone to assist the team in the “Building of CF branches in Marginal Seats”.We intend to find this person using a professional and transparent process.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

Building CF branches in marginal seats is a key part of the plan for this year. Every NME member is involved in it to a greater or lesser extent. We require someone to work for Claire Palmer (CF Deputy Chairman) on this. Initially, the three seats which will be focused on by this person will be Keighley, Aberconwy and Loughborough. A second wave of seats will be identified for Wave II which will start in February. The person will be required to work with the local Association, the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, Assembly Member or other local leadership figure, the Target Seats team, the CF Area team and the Senior Party Area and Regional Team. This is very much a hands on role. They must be able to travel to those seats at least twice..

In addition, the person will be a member of the NME which requires monthly attendance (virtual if necessary) at meetings. There is also a need to provide a general level of support to all CF activities, especially any campaigning activities.

The NME is currently scheduled to remain in office until Summer 2006.

This is a voluntary role but travel expenses to marginal seats will be provided.
