CONSERVATION OF THE PÈRES DE SAINTE-CROIXESTATE IN LAC-SIMON

You are cordially invited to a press conference abouttheESTATEOWNED BY THE PERES DE SAINTE-CROIX in Lac-Simon. This Quebec cultural and natural gem is targeted by developers and its very existence is threatened. For that reason, local people and cultural actors have felt the need to get involved.

They are giving this press conference to announce thata request for a heritage sitedesignation has been sent to the Ministry of Culture and Communications of Quebec.The Municipality of Lac-Simon has already designatedthe estateas heritage site. The new request aims tofully preserve it for the enjoyment of the whole community and of future generations.

The 48-acre estateoccupies a gorgeous setting on the shore of lac Simon andincludes two ancient buildings of highpatrimonial value, ascenic footpath dotted with stations of the cross, two wayside crosses, an old private cemetery, an ancient forest and a moist meadow. Its shoreline and forest cover are in apristine state.This cultural and natural jewel must be preserved at all cost.

Several well-known experts in the fields of history and heritage preservation will be on hand to explainits cultural and environmental value for the people of Quebec. Many others active in various fields have already expressed public support for the designation.

Open to all, including children, this meeting is organized by the Regroupement de citoyens pour la sauvegarde du patrimoine du Domaine des Pères de Sainte-Croix, in collaboration with the Association des propriétaires du Lac-Simon and the Association des propriétaires du secteur de la Baie-Groulx.

Refreshments and snacks will be served afterwards.
