Location: NWF is seeking a spring/summer intern to work in its Headquarters office in Reston, VA, just outside the nation’s capital. Occasional work from NWF’sNational Advocacy Centerin downtown Washington, DC may be negotiated to accommodate student schedules; however prospective students are expected to report toHeadquarters for the majority of work hours. Both locations are accessible via public transportation.
Position Description: The intern will work in a fast-paced environment with seasoned Development (fundraising) staff to assist with our donor outreach activities. Core duties will include research and writing to prepare applications and acknowledgements, writing narratives describing relevant NWF program work, gathering documentation for applications to various federal and state campaigns, organizing outreach event materials and representing NWF at public “tabling” events in the DC metro area. Other duties include data entry, research, editing, and other projects as assigned. This is a 10-15/hour per week, 3 month minimum internship.
Necessary Qualifications:
- Open to students currently enrolled in college.
- Interest in advocacy and environmental issues a plus.
- Interest in fundraising and grants a plus.
- Able to communicate directly with the public and comfortable staffing a table at events.
- Strong attention to detail and deadlines required.
- Ability to write quickly in a clear/concise manner.
- Internet and basic research skills.
- Ability to commit to at least 10 hours per week.
- Must be able to travel to event sites (metro accessible, May-Dec. only).
