Wilderness Trails Liaison

The Selway Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation is seeking candidates for two Wilderness Trails Liaison Positions to work and lead projects in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness Area and the surrounding wildlands on the Nez-Perce/Clearwater National Forest of North Central Idaho. This is a 24 week position starting in early April and ending in Mid-October. Trails Liaisons will be responsible for completing a wide variety of conservation and program management tasks. The ideal candidate for this position will understand the relationship between the SBFC and USFS and be able to work seamlessly with both organizations. This position is mostly based in the field hitches lasting up to 9 field days with 1 or 2 office days on either end. Trails Liaisons will also be asked to assist in program documentation, reporting and out-year planning.

Wilderness Trail Crew Leader

The Selway-Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation is seeking candidates for a Wilderness Trail Crew Leader position to work exclusively within the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness and surrounding wildlands on the Nez Perce National Forest in north-central Idaho. This is a 24-week long position lasting from roughly mid-April to mid-October. The crew leader will be responsible for running a 3-person wilderness trail crew that will be performing annual and deferred maintenance in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. The crew may spend up to three weeks at a time in the wilderness, and the Wilderness Trail Crew Leader should be prepared to deal with all logistics and supervision for trail projects for extended stays in the wilderness.

Payette National Forest Lead Steward

The Selway-Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation is seeking candidates for a Lead Steward position to work exclusively within the FrankChurch-River of No Return Wilderness and surrounding wildlands on the Payette and Salmon-Challis National Forests in Central Idaho. This is a seasonal position lasting from roughly mid-April to mid-October. The position will formally be supervised by the Region 1 ProgramsDirector, however day-to-day direction and collaboration will also come from the Payette and Salmon-Challis NationalForest’s wilderness and trails managers.

Bitterroot National Forest Lead Steward

The Selway-Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation is seeking candidates for a Lead Steward position to work within the Selway Bitterroot and Frank Church Wilderness areas and surrounding wildlands on the Bitterroot National Forest of Western Montana and Central Idaho. This is a 20 week seasonal position lasting from roughly early May to mid-September. The position will formally be supervised by the Selway Bitterroot Programs Director; however day-to-day direction and collaboration will also come from the Bitterroot National Forest’s wilderness and trails managers.
