In your correspondence you have requested the information set out below and in what follows I set out the Council’s response:

(1)REQUEST

  1. Who is your lead officer for DBS checking?
  2. How many DBS checks do you carry out each year, broken down by type E.g. standard basic or enhanced.?
  3. Are you a registered body at the DBS that umbrellas other organisations?
  4. Are you currently doing your DBS checks online and if so, what system do You use?
  5. Have you a contract currently with a DBS eBulk provider and if so when does the contract come to an end.

(2)RESPONSE

  1. Steve Baker, Assistant Director – Chief Executive’s Unit (MO)
  2. This varies year on year, but we carry out between 50 and 100 enhanced checks a year for umbrella agencies and over 150 in reference to Licensing. There are also approximately 60 standard checks and 40 enhanced checks per year in relation to new job applicants and where the requirement has changed or rechecks are required.
