CONGRATULATIONS! Your GRFR dog is microchipped and their chip is registered with HomeAgain. Your dog may have a Home Again Microchip OR he/she may have a chip from a company other than Home Again. Regardless of the origin of the chip all our incoming dogs that have a microchip are registered with Home Again. If your dog has a chip from a company other than Home Again you may chose to register them with that company as well but it is not necessary. Should your GRFR dog be lost and his/her chip is scanned by a shelter/vet it will read as registered with Home Again and that is who the shelter/vet will contact. Home Again will then contact the primary contact on the registration, which is currently GRFR. Once you complete the Primary Contact Transfer and change the registration to your name Home Again will contact you in the event your dog is lost, found and scanned. If Home Again cannot reach you or your designated alternate contact they will contact GRFR. We will then try to reach you. If we cannot reach you, we will pick up your GRFR dog and care for them until we can return them to you! Your dog’s safety and wellbeing is our top priority. Your dog’s microchip # is included on your adoption paperwork.

Your HomeAgain microchip enrollment includes lifetime microchip registration in the National Pet Recovery Database as well as temporary membership in the HomeAgain Pet Recovery Service. Currently GRFR is listed as the primary contact for your dog in the HomeAgain National Pet Recovery Database. You may do nothing and leave GRFR as the primary contact; however we encourage you to TRANSFER the microchip registration to yourself as soon as possible by completing the Primary Contact Transfer form included in your adoption paperwork. NOTE: A signature from GRFR is NOT required to complete the transfer. Once you have transferred your GRFR dog’s microchip over to yourself you will be able to create a pet portal for your dog on their website. In this portal you can upload current photos of your dog, add an alternate contact (such as GRFR, a close friend or your vet), and you can list any medical conditions or other important information about your dog that will help reunite you with your beloved furry friend quickly in the event you are separated. Please note it can take 2-3 weeks for HA to complete the transfer after you submit the form.

Please be advised thatyour GRFR dog will always be registered in the National Pet Recovery Database even if you do not re-enroll in HomeAgain’s membership program. Microchips are designed to last your pet's entire lifetime. Once GRFR registers a dog’s microchip, they link to a permanent record of the dog’s information – which is important to keep up-to-date so you can be reached when your lost pet is found. Your dog’s microchip comes with a personal listing in HomeAgain’s lost pet database, and this translates to anytime/anywhere pet recovery servicesforever. Virtually all vets and animal shelters across the country are equipped with scanners that can read your pet's microchip. If a GRFR microchipped dog is found, the vet or shelter will contact HomeAgain with the chip # and HomeAgain will contact the primary contact listed for the microchip (or the alternate contact should the primary be unavailable).
