Configuring Outlook 2013

This chapter contains the following topics:

Adding an IMAP mail account

Advanced IMAP configuration

Working with your archive

Adding anIMAP mail account

This section describes how to add an IMAP mail account in Outlook 2013, so you can access the contents of your archive using Enterprise Vault IMAP access.

Note that the settings you need to configure Outlook to access your archive are in your notification email. The settings shown in the images in the following procedure are just examples.

As you complete this procedure, refer to the notification email to find your own settings.

Note: Depending on your operating system and its configuration, the images in this guide might differ from what you see on your own screen.

Depending on the configuration of Enterprise Vault IMAP access in your company, you might not have to configure all the options shown in this procedure.

1In Outlook, click File, Add Account.

2Select the Manual setup or additional server types option, and click Next.

3Select the POP or IMAP option, and click Next.

4From the Account Type list, select IMAP, then enter the other settings as they are shown in your notification message.

When you have entered all the settings, click More Settings.

5Enter a name for the new IMAP account, and enter your Organization name and Reply E-mail, then click the Outgoing Server tab.

6Enter the outgoing SMTP server settings, as they are shown in your notification email.

Note that not all environments require you to sign in on the outgoing SMTP server. In this case, clear the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication option. Otherwise, select the Log on using option, then enter your usual user name and password.

When you have finished, click the Advanced tab.

7Enter the Server Port Numbers, and select the encryption types as shown in your notification email, then click OK.

8In the Add Account dialog box, ensure that the Automatically test account setting when Next is clicked option is selected, and click Next.

When Outlook has tested the account settings, click Close.

9Click Finish.

Advanced IMAP configuration

This section describes additional, advanced configuration options, most of which you can set to suit your own requirements.

To configure the advanced IMAP settings

1In the navigation pane, right click the IMAP account you created, and click IMAP Folders.

2In the IMAP Folders dialog box, click Query to populate the list of folders in your archive.

Select the folders you want to subscribe to, and click Subscribe.

Working with your archive

When you have configured the IMAP account in Outlook, you can start to access the contents of your archive.

Note the following behavior:

You can reply to and forward the messages in your archive, and Outlook does this using the SMTP server you configured when you added the IMAP mail account.

You can use Outlook to manage the messages in your archive. For example, depending on what your administrator has allowed, you can move, copy and delete the items in your archive.

You can place new items in your archive by moving or copying them from another mail account on your computer.
