Meal Registration & Menu Selection

While you are free to go out on your own for lunch while attending the Symposium, we have planned a group lunch for each day with all-inclusive prices at three venues in the immediate vicinity of Symposium activities. This is an opportunity to eat and enjoy some informal time with our invited speakers and other participants in a relaxed setting. On Wednesday we will enjoy a picnic-style bag lunch meal on the lighthouse grounds or in the adjacent Lighthouse Park by the water and surrounded by twisting live oaks. On Thursday we will take a short walk to Gypsy Cab Co, which provides a variety of made-from-scratch menu items. On Friday lunch will be provided by The Reef, a casual ocean-front venue near the GTM Research Reserve, on the way back to the Lighthouse after the field trip. Pre-registration is required to order lunch Wednesday through Friday. Check which lunches you will attend on the previous page, and check meal selections for Thursday and Friday lunches in the spaces provided below. Lighthouse Maritime Festival and Boat Show

On Saturday March 20, the Symposium culminates in the 18th annual Lighthouse Maritime Festival and our first annual Boat Show. This popular family-oriented festival attracts thousands and is a highly popular St. Augustine event. Admission to the tower, museum and grounds is free from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The maritime museum will be filled with children’s games and maritime crafts, pony rides, live entertainment, and refreshments. Please remember that for their safety, children need to be 44” tall in order to climb the tower, and an adult must accompany children under 12.

As is part of the annual tradition, the Junior Service League of St. Augustine’s 5K Run/Walk will be held during Festival. The 5K Run begins at 4:30 p.m. and the Fun Run will begin shortly after. Both races will start and finish in front of the lawn of the Keepers’ house.

The Lighthouse & Museum’s maritime festival will feature hands-on activities for children including the opportunity to buy, build and sail their own model boat. Radio Disney AM 600 and the Disney Fun Squad Cast, returns for the fifth consecutive year, and will broadcast live from 11 am – 1 pm; and local entertainers will perform throughout the day. At approximately 5 pm we will hold the drawing for the give-away of our handmade 10’ chaisson dory tender, built by LAMP Boatworks.

Various classic and wooden boats will be on display throughout the day on the Lighthouse grounds, and in the water at the public dock at Salt Run directly across from the Lighthouse (public boat ramp). Boats on display will include historic fishing craft, sailboats, wooden racing boats, traditional wooden sail tenders, and a special visit by one of St. Augustine’s only square riggers, Norna.
