AGRO METEOROLOGICAL ADVISORY FOR Guntur DISTRICT, A P

Millets

Kharif Maize

  • Present rains are useful for topdressing of urea fertilizers. To overcome present moisture problem adopt intercultivation with gorru will improve the growth and reduces the weeds. But intercultivation may not be possible due to moisture, apply 2-4D @ 500 grams/acre will reduce the broad leaf weeds only.

Pulses

  • Presently received rains advantageous for pulses growth and development which were already sown

Black Gram

  • Presently received rains can create iron deficiency in late sown blackgram . This can be managed by application iron sulphate and citric acid on standing crop
  • Under present weather conditions sucking pests may attack the crop seedlings hence, this can be managed by spraying with acephate @ 1gr. or monichrotophos @ 1.2 ml per litre of water during morning or evening time.
  • Adopt intercultivation if crop is at 30-40 days this will helps in reduction of weeds as well as aeration to the crop
  • Present weather henhence the stem fly infestation, it can be managed by spraying 1.6 ml monochrotophos or 1 gram acephate or 1.5 ml dimethiate per liter of water

Greengram

  • Presently received rains can create iron deficiency in late sown greengram .

Redgram

  • Presently received rains can create iron deficiency in late sown redgram . This can be managed by application iron sulphate and citric acid on standing crop

Cotton

  • Rains rcieved during last week may helps the application of fertilizers in cotton crop
  • For preservation of moisture adopt intercultivtion with gorru and guntaka
  • Last received rains can favuoring the root rot and fusarium wilt, if this may be serious it can be managed by sparying the copper oxichloride @ 3 gm or carbandism 1gr by mixing with 1 liter of water and pore this chemical around the stem base near the soil.
  • To control white fly spraying triazophos 40 EC 2 ml per liter water.
  • To over come present excess moisture condition top dress the nitrogenous fertilizers and adopt intercultivation where ever possible immediately

Sugarcane

  • Under present moderate cool weather sucking complex, ooly aphids, mealy bugs may be washed out with last received rains need not go for spraying under savior conditions this pests can be managed by spraying with malathion @ 2 ml or endosulphon @ 2 ml monoicrotophos @ 1.6 ml or methyldemoton @ 2 ml or eciphate @ 1 g per liter of water.
  • Under present weather apply very light irrigations to the crop
  • Sugarcane is at vegetative to ripening stages Under present weather white mite due to water logging may dominate and infects the crop This can be managed by spraying with malathion @ 3 ml or endosulphon @ 2 ml per liter of water.
