Posting Overview / In keeping with directions outlined in the Ontario Comprehensive Mental Health and Addictions Strategy, the Lambton Kent District School board is seeking a Mental Health Lead to coordinate, align, and implement a board-level comprehensive student mental health and addictions strategy. Reporting to the Superintendent of Education - Special Education, the Mental Health Leadwill provide leadership within the board and community in the area of school mental health. The incumbent will serve as a liaison with provincial mental health initiatives, and will monitor and share our implementation progress and learning. Moreover, the Mental Health Lead will support district capacity building for mental health services and support schools, evidence informed practices, and system navigation.
Qualifications/Experience /
  • Completion of a graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in Social Work, Clinical/School Psychology, or Psychiatry;
  • Registered with a college governing mental health professionals;
  • Extensive clinical experience working with children and youth, across the tiers of mental health intervention (promotion, prevention, intervention, crisis, system navigation);
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in strategy development, coordination, and implementation, in the area of mental health;
  • Experience providing and/or facilitating adult learning, professional learning and training.

Other Key Skills & Knowledge /
  • Work with system leaders in the board and community to further develop, implement and communicate a comprehensive Lambton Kent District School Board Student Mental Health and Addictions Strategy;
  • Build organizational conditions, including infrastructure, protocols and role clarity, for effective school mental health;
  • Collaborate and work as a team member at the Board and school level to enhance staff capacity to support student mental health;
  • Drawing on senior clinical and leadership experience, coordinate the delivery of mental health awareness and literacy programming, for a range of stakeholders;
  • Assist in the selection and implementation of evidence-based mental health promotion and prevention programming strategies;
  • Work with community partners, to develop an integrated system of care, and to facilitate navigation for students and their families;
  • Serve as a liaison for provincial mental health initiatives; and, collaborate with other Mental Health Leaders across the province who are working closely with School Mental Health ASSIST, to share learning and to provide input to the development and implementation of provincial resources;
  • Submit reports to the Board and the Ministry of Education as required throughout the year on project activities and findings, in conjuction withSpecial Education staff;
  • Excellent communication, coordination and organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment;
  • The successful applicant must have their own vehicle and possess a valid driver's licence;travel throughout the districtwill be required.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Education - Special Education.

Position Effective Date & Length / This is a full-time, permanent position.
12 month, 35 hours/week
Non-Union - Level5 - $75,711 - $79,696
