REPORTS OFFICER, UNICEF Liberia (International Professional)
Job Purpose: As part of its obligations to donors, UNICEF Liberia is committed to provide results-based reporting on programme achievements. Such documentation and reporting requires coherent quality assurance across all UNICEF sectors as well as ensuring timeliness of reports. In its efforts to enhance donor satisfaction by ensuring quality reporting on programmatic results to donors, UNICEF Liberia Country Office is looking to hire aReports Officer on a short-term contract of 6 months.
The Reports Officer is responsible for all aspects of reporting based on information gathered from programme sectors in the Country office, working under the supervision of Resource Mobilization Specialist.
KEY END-RESULTS: Major key end-results & deliverables expected from this role are but not limited to are:
  1. Compile, edit and disseminate mandatory UNICEF reports. Ensure timeliness, quality assurance and adherence to criteria set out in Executive Directors/Guidelines, UN/UNICEF policy papers and donor requirements. This includes gathering of information, consolidation, editing, layout and branding of all required reports which include donor reports, specific thematic reports and consolidated emergency reports. In reviewing the reports ensure compliance with donor conditions, quality of data, fund utilization figures generated from Vision. Include donor report feedback form in all donor reports sent.
  2. Work with programme sections to compile, produce and disseminate high quality mandatory UNICEF reports, including SitReps, Annual Report, donor briefings, etc.
  3. Maintain a coherent system for tracking donor reports due and ensure clearance of reports by the Deputy Representative for timely submission to resource partners. Upload final version of the donor reports to the grant management system in Vision.
  4. Undertake field visits within Liberia, as necessary, to develop human interest stories on various programmes for dissemination to UNICEF resource partners.
  5. Identify capacity strengthening needs in the CO for reporting; accordingly, design, prepare and implement coaching sessions to programme staff to ensure that the relevant staff have the most up-to-date information on reporting guidelines and donor requirements.
  6. Assist in the implementation of Liberia Country Office Resource Mobilization Strategy by participating in the preparation of funding proposals, including consolidation of inputs from relevant sections, editing and presenting with attractive layout.
  7. In collaboration with the Information/Communications Section, support implementation of the Liberia Country Office Visibility/Recognition plan to support the visibility of UNICEF and its resource partners

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & COMPETENCIES:
Education: Advanced University Degree in the area of Communications, Linguistics, Journalism, Public Administration, International Development or a related field. A first University Degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of Advanced University Degree.
Work Experience: At least three 2-3 years of experience in relevant fields preferably working for UN Organization, INGO etc.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Specific skills and experience in writing/editing.Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with close attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of UNICEF programmatic work and principles.
  • Proven ability to synthesize and powerfully convey messages and good knowledge of development and programme issues, especially with children' issues and UNICEF's work.
  • Strong demonstrated experience in drafting reports in English.Skills in designing and preparing attractive layouts will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in working independently, and also as a constructive member of a work team.
  • Solid experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and experience in handling web-based management systems.
Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required. Excellent written and verbal English skills are an essential job requirement. Knowledge of another official UN language and of local working language of the duty station is an asset.
Duration of the appointment:Temporary Appointment of 6 Months – Renewable only subject to need and performance
