An independent study course available to people with at least a 1 year technical diploma or degree in health with a direct patient care contact background

/ More Structured delivery
A three week course that combines demonstrations, practice, and testing in lab.
Designed for students who will enter the ADN program. / Traditional Delivery
Traditional nursing assistant course that involves:
30 hours of video viewing
30 hours of lab
 120 hours of clinical
Advantages / Offers more flexibility for the health care worker who needs to have the nursing assistant competencies to get into the MSTC ADN program.
2 credit course – less tuition costs (approx. $150.00)
Independent study means the student completes the readings and videos and practices the skills independently as needed, then schedules a time to the nursing lab to test out of the skills.
Will be able to use these credits as elective credits / Offers students an option instead of taking the entire CNA class in a more structured format with demonstrations and working with other students.
2 credit course – less tuition costs (approx. $150.00)
Requires some formal lab times with demonstrations of skills, practice and test out times.
Will beeligible to test for CNA ($100.00) after completing the clinical in first semester nursing. This course, plus the clinical in the first nursing course will meet the requirements to test for CNA.
Will be able to use for elective credits / When completed and the state test is passed, the graduate my use the initials CNA and make seek employment as a certified nursing assistant
Will meet the requirements for CNA at any agency or any college in Wisconsin
Disadvantages / This course may not meet the nursing assistant requirements at other schools.
Will not allow the student toever work as a CNA. / This course will not allow the student to work as a CNA until first semester ADN Clinical is completed. / 3 days per week for about 4 months
Cost is $350.00 for the course & $100.00 to test
Will not be able to work as a CNA unless course is completed and test is passed
