Comparative Government Project

We learned the concepts that can vary across governments when we went through the Comparative Government Overview PowerPoint. With this project, we will examine these different forms of government as they exist in the world. This project will be due March 31.

You will be responsible for investigating not only the United States, but also Mexico, the United Kingdom, the People’s Republic of China, and a country of your choice. We will be using an online tool called Mixbook, which Mrs. Lopez and Mrs. Smart will demonstrate when we meet in the Library on March 20 and 21.

For each country, your Mixbook product should include thorough answers to the following questions:

  • When was the country’s current constitution adopted?
  • Is the government a federal or unitary system?
  • Is government power limited or unlimited?
  • How is the executive branch structured?
  • How is the legislative branch structured?
  • What major political parties compete for power?
  • How is the judiciary structured?
  • How does the history of the country explain the way in which the government is organized?
  • What type of economy does the country have?
  • What are the country’s top imports?
  • What are the country’s major exports?

See the rubric on the second page for me detailed information as to how this product will be evaluated. This grade will be allocated to MP4 grade.

Tip: The CIA World Factbook contains loads of information about every country and principality. It will be a major source for this effort.
